Can’t agree more. My sister still has a stash but it won’t last forever. They don’t bother H and he will replace several bulbs and they don’t even match each other, he put one in our porch light that resembled a spotlight.
Yeah I’m cool with electric ones. But they’re in the minority in my experience, especially as used by lawn care services.
It would take me 4 days to move the leaves in my yard with an electric leaf blower. My dad bought the most powerful electric blower at the time. We ran my backpack blower and his electric blower side by side. It wasn’t even close.
Smartwool. Sorry, but we have put these in the washer which they say you can do, and they have never been the same. Expensive wool socks…
I’m a fan of leaving the leaves where where they are. In any case, I was replying to another post and I don’t want to debate this.
Awww, I’ve been replacing and tossing my old bulbs the last few years. I wish I could’ve given them to a good home instead! Our electric bills get crazy high in Phoenix in the summer, so we’re very conscious of heat and electric draw from bulbs.
Your LED bulbs really shouldn’t strobe visibly, if they do it’s a sign they’re dying. They do strobe in cell phone videos due to the framerates though.
I have an electric leaf blower, and a few rakes. Hate using the blower on the lawn. It is far easier, faster, and probably better for me to rake. But the blower works better in some other locations (the deck, or odd corners), before I rake.
Dryer balls.
Like @Data10, I use our electric blower to clean the inside of our house.
Crypto…I don’t know about you, but I don’t like my bank account and paycheck going up and down like a yo-yo. Sure there are other cryptos out there that are more stable, but…why?
Laundry pods. When did we become so lazy that we can’t measure?
Ditto for coffee pods, although I recognize that there are people who can only drink a single cup.
I think the key phrase in that sentence is “at the time.” Electric technology improves rapidly, and the most powerful leaf blowers are likely different from when your dad ran the earlier test. Among typical consumer products that can be carried, both gas an electric max out at ~1000 CFM.
I have a Nespresso and a Keurig with a pot and a pod, I drink a few cups a week, H drinks a pot at a time. He never uses pods.
Tik Tok
Vibrams – those weird shoes with the toes separated, like gloves.
Duty Free Stores.
I have never felt compelled at the airport to buy and carry on a flight cologne, vodka or sun glasses to save duty.
Oofos and Crocs. Sorry…
Personally I’ve never been a fan of crocs—ugly and hot! H has many pairs & likes them for yard work.
I do this all the time. Maybe you are in a low tax state, but this is a real money savings for me. But I wouldn’t buy anything duty-free that I wouldn’t buy in the high street, so I’m not tempted with impulse purchases.
Last time I was tempted was at Heathrow where they had Blantons bourbon (distinctive bottle) on display that caught my eye in passing. At 129 Pounds it would have been more expensive net of exchange rate than the going rate in the US plus tax.
Sounds like you have found some value so perhaps I should take another look, but I also don’t have a need for much of what they sell.
If you are ever in Iceland, buy your alcohol at the airport duty free shop when you land!
