I’m planning on studying for a year abroad at one of these schools. I am an engineering major. Is there one school that is better than the other, and why would you say that? I am not so much worried about specific courses as how the experience of being an international student is in both places, Singapore vs Hong Kong.

Since no one answering your question, let me try based on my past experience (but my understanding can be a bit out of date). Overall, both are top schools by Asian standard. I am not familiar with engineering schools at the two universities, but I would say HK Tech has a slightly higher overall reputation than Nanyang. HK is the strongest university in HK. In Singapore, the strongest university is National University of Singapore.
