Nashville, the TV show

My daughter just got this email:

"The TV series “Nashville” is interested in filming a couple of scenes in one of the condo units for an upcoming episode.

They would like to use one of the downstairs flats. If you have a downstairs flat and would be willing to let them use your unit for three days, Monday, Aug 26 for the preparation (involving moving furniture), Tuesday, Aug 27 for the actual shoot, and Wednesday, Aug 28 for putting everything back, please let me know as soon as possible.

They would have lots of equipment, trucks, etc. on the property for the three days. They have promised me that they would make sure not to block anyone’s car in or make moving around the area difficult."

Her husband vetoed it. It sounds like it would be a pain, but how cool? These are older 2-story condos, by the way. Nothing elegant.

MOWC–Pain, shmain. I’d sign up!!! Very cool!

Another chance to be in the show,

Bumping this up to ask a question of those still watching … What is the name of the new label head who’s a jerk? I’m trying to figure out what else the actor has been in by looking on imdb but realized I didn’t know the character’s name.

YDS - his character is Jeff Fordham and the actor is Oliver Hudson (son of Goldie Hawn and brother of Kate Hudson).

He’s been in a few movies and the sitcom Rules of Engagement and was on Dawson’s Creek long ago.

And for those still watching, anyone feel like all of the characters are not the same people as last season? They’ve changed everybody and their motivations and the few episodes that have aired so far seem like everyone is jumbling around into some storyline arc. I don’t know but I don’t think I’m feeling “it” like last season when I looked forward to each week’s episode.

Thanks, sahp!

I haven’t noticed any big changes in the characters that wouldn’t be natural, I guess. I didn’t like the way Teddy was so mean to Deacon, who was trying to play nice. But maybe that’s what lead him to be nicer to Peggy about the baby.

Is Peggy really pregnant at this point? My dh said she miscarried, but I don’t remember that.

Disappointed that Juliet slept with the husband, but that’s in character for her, right? ;)

Peggy did lose the baby - I think last week’s episode or maybe even the first one. She had gone to the dr’s office for a check-up and there was no heartbeat.

I feel like every character has gone “too extreme” and the nuance of each one is gone. There were shades of nice/not-nice in each one before that I think have hardened.

I also don’t get why they introduced Scarlett’s new friend (the co-waitress) and the new ing

Even my 15- year-old daughter, who loved the show last year, said it has gotten too soap opera-ish. I am not enjoying it as much, either. I hope it gets back on track.

I may just check in here for updates. I’ve lost interest.

Still watching, but I liked the Juliet/Avery relationship so was disappointed last night! Also, I don’t really understand Reyna’s relationship with the guy she made the album with (can’t remember his name either). Seems like they have a back-story that I missed!

I also like Juliette and Avery together. I hope they’ll make up.

I think Rayna’s relationship with Liam is just a fling, rooted in sex and music. I get the sense that he’s the only other guy she’s been with other than Deacon and Teddy. They make good music and have great sex – what could be better than that?

I agree that the waitress friend is a boring storyline. I’m sad to see Coleman go.

Deacon has become way to melodramatic.

They seem to be shedding characters that didn’t work or didn’t find a place in the narrative–the mustache twirling father, the pointless sister, Coleman. I think that’s a good thing. As for it being too soapy, well, it’s a soap, not doubt about it, but it was from the outset, so I can’t complain about it now. I know the plotlines are absurd, and I don’t even like country music, but I keep watching because Hayden Panettiere is a joy and the male eye candy is exceptional. I just wish the Rayna’s daughters would favor us with another song–those girls are terrific!

sahp2kids - I agree. Last year I couldn’t wait for each episode and I enjoyed the music. It feels like they are trying to include way to many sub plots and the result is that everything seems disjointed. I wonder if they got new writers.

Has anyone else noticed that Deter and Scarlett both have the same habit of looking away with their eyes when they are speaking with someone.

I’m not ready to give up…

Still enjoying this show, soapy as it is. I just really think Connie Britton’s singing should have been dubbed from the start. I don’t know if Hayden Panettiere is doing her own singing, but if so she is believable. The woman who plays Scarlet has an incredible voice. Connie just doesn’t have the goods to sell it as a country music legend, she is great in every other way.

I am still enjoying the show, but a bit less than last year. I have never gotten over that Gunnar didn’t get the record deal with Scarlett-- I wanted that to be fixed SO BAD. Every time Scarlett sings I feel a little better about it because she is so good on her own, but I loved their duets so much. I wanted them to be together. And I don’t care one iota about the gay cowboy roommate. He serves no purpose near as I can tell. I don’t mind the waitress friend.

And yeah, I just downloaded all the soundtracks and I want to like Connie’s songs but I skip them. I remember reading that she was really worried about having to sing because she knew she didn’t have the goods like Hayden-- and Hayden is listenable but I’m not particularly fond of her singing, either. I don’t mind, though, I like Connie Britton enough that I am still glad she is playing the character. Initially I didn’t believe her character but she won me over.

I don’t care about the cowboy or Gunnar’s new girlfriend either. The new record company boss is perfectly slimy though - good new character.

I love the show and was glad that Juliette apologized to Avery but not happy that Rayna didn’t defend her. I liked that they were finally getting along.

I am a big fan of Connie Britton, but I agree that her singing isn’t up to the expectations the show puts on it. Hayden is fine. I also don’t believe the whole Gunnar/Zoe thing, and want Scarlett and Gunnar to have a contract singing their duets. I find it hard to believe that Rayna would be dumb enough not to sign them if she heard them together. I also liked the Juliette/Avery relationship and want it to go somewhere. Avery and Gunnar are both very talented. It is pretty obvious that Zoe is a stand-in for Scarlet in every sense, and S/G/A could form the ultimate trio (as well as love triangle, of course  ).I actually like the Will Lexington storyline, and find the whole idea of a gay country singer who feels he has to hide it under a veneer of hyper-hetero masculinity intriguing and potentially tragic. Now, Rayna has announced her intention to buy herself out of her contract, using her father’s $$, but his assets are suddenly frozen. She’s trapped…what will she do? What will she and her father do when they find out that the sister was the betrayer?

Well, it’s unanimous about Gunnar and Scarlett. I love this song: [If I Didn’t Know Better (Nashville) - YouTube](<a href=“If I Didn't Know Better (Nashville) - YouTube”>If I Didn't Know Better (Nashville) - YouTube) So hot!

I kind of like the gay cowboy and think it’ll be interesting when he’s outed. Also, I like the contrast with Gunnar and being a performer vs an artist. Also, I like that he fronted out the new girl about sabotaging Scarlett.

Also agree that I’d love for Juliette and Avery to get together and let her having something resembling a healthy relationship.
