National Merit Cutoff Predictions Class of 2017

@candjsdad - any mail yet? DC will be interesting!

Its too bad they don’t send the ā€œMagic Bookā€ to homeschool principals. We could figure out the cutoffs in no time with that book.

How many from each catholic school in UT (only 3) I can give exact number with that info

None yet. We often don’t get mail until 5:00 or even 6:00.

Ouch @delilahxc Yeah I’ll be doing quite a bit of prep before October, because I would really like NMF/NMSF scholarships like the one at UK

@candjsdad …I wish I could get everyone the information that wanted. I just wanted everyone to know…yes, there is a book! I think that is why it takes so long for the mail to get delivered because it is a book not just a letter to the schools.

I notice that there are no/few reports from the western state. The mail-snail is slow.

None from Northeast states either. UGH. I can’t get anything done.

Yeah, I’ll bet they mail the books out first to the schools and then wait a bit to mail letters out to the homeschool families. That way information gets to the relevant parties around the same time.

Yes NCHS confirmed that my daughter with 218 in IL didn’t make it. Advisor emailed it. So, IL cutoff is confirmed
219.

@suzyQ7 Same here!

@WGSK88 Sorry about that. I’m pretty sure we will have the same fate. But we’ll have to wait 2 more days to find out. :((

@Tgirlfriend, what is this book you keep referring to? Did you receive a book with actual names of all SF?

No mail for me today. Hopefully tomorrow, although it is a formality at this point. Still, it’d be nice to have some paper in my hands.

I am very worried that my school will decide that they can’t tell me anything until the 14th. Does anyone have a persuasive argument we might be able to make without riling up our new GC?

Skip the CG and go directly to principal. He/she can make things happen for you.

Most persuasive is that the SAT registration date is 9/1. If you register after that, you will have to pay a late fee, which is a hardship. Tell them you need to take that SAT to confirm your score and can’t afford the late fee.

If they say - You can take it in October - you say, no I can’t - I have to take the subject tests.

If they say- You can take it in November- you say, no I can’t -will be visiting Grandma out state that Saturday.

@spaamie1 From what S’s GC said, his school received two separate mailings. Apparently one contained the magic book and clearly stated it could not be shared until 9/14. The other (which they received later – a day? a couple of hours? not sure) was a letter stating that S would be moving on and could be told of his status, although no public announcement could be made. Something to keep in mind if your school says they cannot share information yet – it may just be a day or so before they can.

Missouri - where are you? Anyone know anything? I’m sitting on a 213.

If a school doesn’t have anyone qualify, will it still receive a letter?
