National Merit Cutoff Predictions Class of 2017

I thought about that, but frankly, UC Regents scholarship is not all that much (I think). Isn’t that just several thousand dollars per year? Good but not great like certain scholarships offered by some schools outside CA. I would be happy if I just get into top two UC schools even without UC Regents, but IMO I think they view ECs as more important. Now, if UC Regents scholarship covers almost 100% of in-state tuition, that would be a different story for me.

Don’t think anything’s arrived in Utah, counselor at our school would most likely tell D , as she knows my d is already committed to a university and will not sign up for SATs unless semi-finalist.

No, but based in IL cutoff of 219, I am almost certain that the cutoff will be 221 or 222 for CA IMO.

We are @ 220, none of the schools DS is considering give anything for NMF, but were hoping to add one more feather  DS didn’t spent anytime preparing due to other activities.

I better start polishing other feathers to look good to colleges. Lol

y, most likely CA cutoff will be 221. Based on our school data (whatever I heard from my DS), I thought it could be 219.

@sk2017 - - Do you mind sharing the school data you mentioned in your post (without, of course, revealing too much identifying information . . . ) Thanks!

@websensation Regents at UC Davis is $7500 per year and $6000 per year at UCSB. It basically brings the price down to that of a CSU. You’re correct that some of the others such as Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD don’t give nearly as much.

Also, aside from the money, the priority scheduling that Regents scholars get is a huge stress reliever. They can get pass times nearly a week before others in their class.

Any word on MD? Sitting on the cusp

Am I correct that seems like letters to homeschoolers and schools are arriving at different times even to same state?

@pcioLA - Our school usually have around 10 NMFs and I heard 6 or so scores above my DS’s 220 ( i believe one 228, one 226 and couple of 222s). Based on that I expected it be 219. lot of kids got 216-218 range. That tend to coincide with others saying that lot fewer kids got scores above 218.

At our school where they had 30 NMFs last year, there were something like 45 at 220 and above and like 35 at 221 or above.

@websensation - Wow, that will ruffle lot of feathers :))

These little disappointments should be good for them. Lol

Any news from someone in PA?

Is it safe to assume CO’s cutoff will be lower than CA’s?

I hope so  sitting here in CO waiting…waiting…waiting…

What is the cutoff for commended scholars? Is it the same in each state?

@rosedancer Cutoff is 209 for everyone

@jrob1765 and @Tschoonover44 we are waiting in CO as well. But we are on the bubble at 216 and it’s not looking too good. May I ask where your kids are at?
