Just finished episode 5 of HOC. I think the reason it seems less intense than earlier seasons is, as @doschicos suggests, reality is so full of drama!
I’m sure I’m not the only one tuning into that reality as we type here.

I normally love political/news shows, and I love Kevin Spacey, but I just didn’t enjoy HOC. I struggled through the first season and got 2 episodes into season 2 and just couldn’t do it anymore. It was just too creepy, and, I think, maybe hit too close to home for me. And yes, I am trying to watch the real thing right now at work, but darn business keeps getting in the way!
Amazon Prime, not Netflix, but I’ll start Long Strange Trip tonight I think - there are 6 episodes. I’ve heard good things.
If we jump the shark and go to Amazon Prime, I loved Mozart in the Jungle. 3 seasons out there now and I loved how season 3 ended.
