I like Ben. He’s funny.
Final Jeopardy tonight: didn’t agree with the ruling about a misspelled word.
I did. It’s been a long-standing rule that spelling does not matter unless it changes the pronunciation, which it did.
But it may have been a moot point in the result had he not whiffed on the Daily Double.
To me, watching Jeopardy Masters a half hour after Jeopardy ends really highlights how much better the flow of the show is with Ken as host.
It’s immediately after, here!
Mattea did confirm that there was a suspension of filming Jeopardy Masters when their father passed away. Sounds like all involved reacted with care and concern for Mattea’s needs at such a difficult time.
That was very moving. Even Ken was choked up.
Guessing the news was given to Mattea after the 1st semifinal shown today and they delayed filming the game after that for awhile. It must have been so difficult to keep going after finding out that news. But, I’m sure that’s what Mattea’s dad would have wanted. I’m glad Mattea did not have to or choose to drop out.
That was very touching
His passing could have happened earlier in the taping. No idea. Mattea said they wanted to thank everyone at this point as it may have been their last episode on Masters.
Class and concern from all involved.
I read just now that Mattea stated the first 7 episodes were taped before dad died, the last 3 after (so the ones playing this week). Such a remarkable response to keep going and doing so well after that kind of news. And only 24 years old.
I read that they also suspended filming when Andrew’s child was born.
A very moving tribute.
I don’t watch faithfully like some of you, but have watched all of the Masters episodes. My favorite was last night’s half without James. I respect him and his amazing results, but I don’t really enjoy him. I really enjoyed the match off between Matt, Andrew & Mattea. I can’t imagine that James won’t win it all.
I like James because, despite all his bravado, he does not take himself seriously. Unlike a certain other short lived champion named Yogesh.
The tapings were rescheduled multiple times.
The first time was 3/15 because Andrew’s wife went into labor. The second time was 4/25 for an unknown reason. The third was 5/3, the day after Mattea’s father died. The taping on 5/2 happened, which was where Matters was when they found out.
Interesting masters final.
Game 2 was a nail biter with surprising responses to FJ.
Congratulations to the winner
We really enjoyed the tournament.
So the Masters will be an annual event with James, Matt and Mattea returning next year.
