Yeah, Wheel of Fortune pays better!
Celebrity Jeopardy! Season 2 premieres 9/27 with Ken hosting. Episodes have already been taped.
Hardly seems worth the effort.
Can celebraties who are actors/in the unions do game shows during the strike? Can only non-actors be on the shows?
Yes. Variety shows, reality series and game shows are covered under a separate collective bargaining agreement. Some actors will still choose not to participate regardless
Who’s hosting the episodes that begin airing today?
Ken Jennings is hosting a Second Chance Tournament, which will run for three weeks.
Ken is hosting all versions until further notice.
I’m guessing Mayim won’t return until the strike is settled.
Wonder if she will be given a lesser role (ex. only specials?) upon her return?
That would be nice.
I will be happy for her to have no role. Ken’s really grown into the role; Mayim has stagnated.
Case in point, watch tonight for his self-depricating H&R Block quip. Mayim can’t ad-lib her way out of a paper bag.
Happy to give Mayim Celebrity Jeopardy (which i don’t watch).
Agree completely about Ken growing into the role while Mayim has not improved as a host.
Oh, I totally agree. Having Ken be the sole host would be ideal. Minimizing her appearances is the next best option.
And this gives Jeopardy! an out, that she doesn’t want to cross the picket line and ‘we respect her position and wish her well.’ But I don’t think Ken wants to do it all and having her do (some) of the tournaments and celebrity night time stuff gives him a break.
I usually don’t watch when she’s the host, or do a lot of other stuff when it is on like the dishes, take out the trash and then if something exciting happens I can just rewind.
Ken’s adlibs show that he has a super-rapid mind, he wasn’t bad during his try-out but has settled in perfectly. Mayim is a very bright person, but her side comments seem to come from either her earbud or index card. Ken’s brain works at light speed.
Grr. The Monday Night Football pregame show is preempting Jeopardy! I guess that will be true every week, sigh. It will record at 2 am on Tuesday, so I’ll just have to avoid this thread until I can watch it.
Just sayin’ … in situations like this, I’ve been able to find the current show on YouTube. I think it may not stay up for long though.
ETA: and hey, seems like my local station is doing the same, and I’m currently watching on YouTube.
Same here. Bummer. I taped it when it’s on here at 130am.
Here Jeopardy! is on the Fox station at 6 pm, so that means every Thursday in football season it is preempted, but also often for baseball or other sports. They pretend it is going to be on either when the game ends or after the 11 o’clock news or at 1 am, but it often isn’t.
Just recently, that local station has joined up with the CW station, so sometimes when it isn’t on on the Fox station it is on the CW station. And heaven help us if there is any weather event happening.
I’m too old for this.
For preempted episodes, there’s always YouTube
