Is it on Netflix? I only see it on Hulu, which we don’t have.
I agree. I have Jeopardy set to record every day but lately if I’m out and miss the show I haven’t been going back to watch it.
My mistake. It’s on Hulu. No theatrical release–straight to streaming.
I was just lucky to see it at TIFF.
Sounds like I’m in the minority but, after being disenchanted with the wildcard competition initially, I’ve come to appreciate several aspects of it: better-than-average contestants, interesting (if not always great) betting, many more close-ish contests than instant runaways, the “since the first time” stories, and the fact that the condition of contest are, for the most part, making the matches engagingly atypical.
I liked it for awhile but I’m getting tired of it now.
I’m kind of surprised at how many people really don’t like the tournament-type games. To me they’re all games of Jeopardy! I may or may not remember someone who has been on before but it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the gameplay. I can see how some have objections based on principle while the strikes were going on but I guess that was something I was able to see J’s side of, and they were trying to do the best they could under the circumstances.
I do fear that when Jeopardy comes back with new contestants, it may also come back with Mayim.
I think there will be a widening gap between the two hosts – Ken keeps getting more comfortable and better in the hosting role while Mayim (who I felt already kind of stagnated in the role) has not hosted in some time.
I was on team Mayim for a while but am really enjoying Ken’s hosting and sense of ,even the corny stuff.
Agree…I liked Mayim during the “tryout” process as well (even more than I liked Ken). But to me, Ken has really grown into the role over time.
Mayim is out at Jeopardy.
Ken has settled into the job very nicely. The quickness of his mind is very evident when he adlibs comments without slowing down the game.
Many of us hoped he would be Alex’s successor, and it looks like it all worked out.
I read that Mayim wouldn’t host the show during the actor’s strike. I wonder if this factored in the decision.
I think that Mayim’s absence gave Ken time to solidify his mark as host and have the audience grow accustomed to him as a daily presence in the role. IMO the gap between Ken and Mayim has widened over time.
I am not surprised Ken became the sole host but thought thet might ask Mayim continue doing things like Celebrity Jeopardy.
I wonder if Ken wants the job full time.
I expect he does or they could have made other arrangements.
Seeing today that Mayim is out and Ken has the job full time now.
Yes…happened yesterday…see comments upthread
When they were doing the guest hosts/try outs, I enjoyed Buzzy. Maybe he can fill in for Ken if needed.
Buzzy took over for Ken on The Chase.
Agree—did not like Buzzy’s schtick when he was a contestant, but when he did the TOC during the year of revolving guest hosts, he did a good job–his mind was quick enough for the task.
I was reading the comments to this story on the WAPO website (I think that’s where I read it!) and there are still Lavar Burton fans lamenting that he would be perfect for this job–NO, NO—when he had his chance he was very disappointing.
