New new American Idol thread (2010).

I thought Crystal was really good…maybe moreso because the singers before her were just …not.

I like Mike too.

Andrew is not impressing me.

Katie had some good moments and some pitchy ones.

Casey is up next. He is doing “The Power of Love”. I don’t like that song but he is so cute…Roar…

Ok, so Siobhan screeched again but everyone of the judges was falling all over her. I don’t think she would last the tour with that. I always thought Crystal was a Janice Joplin type and she did it tonight. .

Have not really watched AI this year, but did just tune into the recap. This has got to be the worst crop of singers… ever, on this show.

What really irks me about this show is how they miss so many obviously talented people in their pre-screenings at the big city auditions. Instead, they waste time following around the overly-dramatic AI wannabees who have NO talent whatsoever and put them before the judges so that we can all see how horrified the judges are, that these people even think they can sing.

I know many kids who are much more talented singers than what I saw tonight; some have tried to get an audition before the judges, but were dismissed because they didn’t have a gimmick. So what happens to the show? You end up with two dozen mediocre singers who made it through because the show’s staff really isn’t interested in finding the best singer.

I’m glad I did not get sucked in this year.

Pretty bad night all-around. I liked Crystal, Katie (surprisingly!), Aaron (also surprisingly!), and Siobhan. Paige was just horrible, Tim was as good as he’s going to get without real coaching (read: the 12-year-old girls will keep him around til top 9 or so), Andrew is falling so fast and it’s sad.

Funny, one of my twin sons (age 18) said to me, “I can sing better than a few of the guys. Not all of them, but some.” I totally agree. Some of these folks are really a joke considering they’re down to the Top 11.

The last couple of weeks, I’ve been wondering if Kara is pregnant. Something made me think it last week and tonight she’s wearing something loose and had her hands on her stomach at one point. Just a feeling.

Last night was not a good night. I loved Siobhan last week, but have to agree with those of you who said she always “screeches” at the end of her song. Last night I noticed that her mouth was open, but no sound was coming from my t.v., so the network must have stifled that last note. The idea of Crystal performing without her guitar is interesting. I hope she can do it, and for once, I agree with Ellen’s comment. She needs to connect with the audience. Poor Andrew didn’t seem to know what to do with his hands, when he didn’t have his guitar.

I agree–tonight was disappointing. What occurred to me was how difficult it will be for AI to be compelling tv for the next few weeks/months when there’s really only 3-4 singers who are worthy of the win.

I thought Crystal, Siobhan, Mike, and Casey did well enough. The rest, meh. (Paige, however, was in a league of her own-truly awful.) The other realization hitting me is that I’m really starting to lose interest. This is sad because I was a huge fan of the show for years. Is it just me?

I don’t think so…I keep TRYING to be interested, but no-one’s really any good! Katie is from here in CT - so the local news is pushing her story, but she’s not interesting either.

Katie looked cute last night. She finally wore something decent. I thought she sang well, too.

I don’t know if I said it on this board, but when Kara broke down during Michael’s one song a couple of weeks ago, that’s when I said “I wonder if she is pregnant” - the song was about mothers/women -something along those lines and she just WEPT!

^^^ AH, abasket, you are right! I didn’t think about pregnancy at the time, but wondered why she was so emotional. That would make so much sense!

Yes, that is one of the things that made me think it as well. Added with a few other things I’ve observed, I think she is either pregnant or trying hard to get pregnant.

I think this is the worst season of AI ever. We have watched since the beginning when our girls were young and the 4 of us always loved the show. We have been to see AI tapings twice during the season that David Cook won.

We are really losing interest fast as their is not much talent in this bunch. And I know there are many Crystal fans out there, but they are not my 15 year old D who is the one that buys the songs. I would not buy a CD full of Crystal’s songs as her sound does not appeal to me.

I think Paige has to go tonight as she was so awful there was nothing good about her performance.

Agreed that this is the worst season ever. And Kara crying/pg makes sense.

I remember once at work that a guy in another dept yelled at me, and I cried for, literally, hours. It was so incredibly embarrassing – co-workers in my dept read him the riot act, he came down and apologized and through it all I kept crying. That night, I called a friend who was a former co-worker and told her the hilarious story (hilarious only because it was so humiliating to be so uncontrollably emotional in a work situation that I had to laugh to keep from crying – AGAIN!) She asked, “Are you pregnant?” Took a test the next morning, and, yep, I was preggers.

Wow, no one cared enough to comment on the results?

I can’t believe that this is the best talent they could find. They stink–really, they are terrible. I wouldn’t even go to the upcoming Idol tour concert if someone gave me free tickets.

Adam Lambert broke American Idol.

This was the week last year that he did Ring of Fire. On the heels of his Michael Jackson Black or White performance during the top 12 week.
