I hated the Disney-ness of this week (really? You can’t stop with having Miley mentor contestants older than she is? You have to bring in Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato?).
Results-wise, Paige left, as was appropriate considering her performance Tuesday.

I was afraid that after last season it would all crumble, mostly because I think it was the most talented finale (and, really, top 4 or so) ever. And then Paula left and then it was announced that Simon’s leaving, and it’s just sucked this year. At least I’m leaving for college this summer and won’t feel any need to keep up with Idol next year.

I was so happy the producer’s decided that Paige would not have to sing the song from Tuesday night again. Thank goodness for my ear’s lol! I thought it was kind how they told her it was the end of the line and she got to sing a song she could actually sing.

This season is not good. I don’t know if it’s because last season was so good or if “it’s jumped the shark”. I just know that I’d rather see NCIS than American Idol.

I think the judges unwittingly dealt themselves a bad hand this year. Didn’t it seem early on that the women were great and were going to “wow” us? It didn’t turn out that way. It’s not just a lack of talent; it’s a lack of personality. Shoot, this season makes me long for Sanjaya.

I will add, though, that I hope Idol continues next year and beyond. Good or bad, it’s a fun family night for us–and there’s not too many programs out there that my 88 year old mother and my 15 year old daughter can watch together every week and discuss at length!

They brought Miley to mannipulate the young votes. Teenegers will do whatever she commands! My little sister told me she would vote for Tim because he’s cute-Miley likes him too, then that, equals to the Miley result: PAige out! However, I don’t think Katie Stevens needed to be at the bottom, instead, I would have put that dude that can’t sing without his pacifier-I mean, his guitar, what’s his name? the one with the glasses, he is worse than Paige if tha’s possible!

Agree with the lack of talent this year. I do think it would be a lot better if they didn’t insist on eliminating by gender to get to the final twelve. I can’t help but wonder what happened to Paige, she really sounded great early on.

I also agree about the Lambert effect. We were so wowed last year and it will be hard to ever match his genius. It is still provides lighthearted fun - we call my MIL and make snarky comments and complain when a favorite doesn’t remain, Lily, for example.

I would rather comment about AI than get all worked up about political issues.

Next week, I believe the next to go should be the guy I mentioned earlier, he butchers every song, with or without guitar. Man, what a tour will it be! It’s one I will definitely not go! I guess they will not have to put a small rug in the floor, because the theatre will be that tiny! I am watching it because it has become a habit since 2002, but I haven’t voted once yet

This is only the second year H and I have been watching AI, and although I thought it started out promising, it was discouraging to see Lily go and now only three or four are worth watching for.

I’m glad to see Ellen is coming into her own as a judge; she seems more confident now that she’s figured out a way to inject her humor into her pronouncements.

I am watching but have been less than impressed tonite. I will say that Andrew did a great job. Last week I thought he was one of the weakest links and this week he is one of the strongest. Mike and Casey held their own tonite too. I enjoyed their performances and they both played guitar very well Didi was a mess. She is the one to boot this week. Katie was pretty good, not amazing for me. Tim is very sweet but no wow factor. Sioban was just ok tonite…her weakest night yet but she dosent deserve to go home yet. Lee is up next and they just said that he has walking pneumonia so I hope he does ok.

Definitely. I wanted to slap him when he kept calling Andrew’s mother “mom”. He was so patronizing and over the top. Then he was touching Ellen’s tie…no boundaries there.

Crystal just did a nice job on Midnight Train to Georgia. She played the piano.

I agree that Didi and Tim were probably the wrost performances of the night but with Tim’s vote-getting ability with the young girls, probably Didi will be next to go.

My favorites of the night were Lee (1st) and Crystal (2nd). Overall I enjoyed this week’s show better than last week by far. Still not planning to watch the elimination show. Too much fluff. Easier to just check here for the outcome :)

Anyone know what next week’s theme will be?

I’m not sure Tim is safe, even with his good looks. He’s been in the bottom 3 for the past two weeks. I hope he goes before Didi does; she actually has some real talent when she’s just with a good song and a guitar.
