New new American Idol thread (2010).

bumpety so I can follow along. This is the first night I have watched.

So far it’s not bad. I seem to remember some real clinkers during the first show in years past.

Didnt like Lacey or Katie… Didi ok…loved Casey

Ol’ rasta Tim was, uh, interesting.

i liked the rolling stones reggae version :)

Siobhan…hmmm female adam lambert???

Siobhan - loved the song, her voice, her dress - hated the boots.

Doing my best Randy imitation:

I don’t know, dawg, everyone sounds OK, but I’m just not feelin’ any of the performances tonight.

I liked Tim’s weird reggae thing…quirky but interesting.
Really liked Sioban’s Paint it Black.
Katie was just ok.
Big Mike was good as usual.
Didn’t like Lacey, still can’t get into her weird voice. Didi and Casey were good.
Didn’t hear the guy with the tattoo’s on his neck (I was busy with something else).

I liked Lee but Simon didn’t. He sang Beast of Burden and Simon thought it was “safe”.

I love Siobhan, and while I don’t see her as a female Adam in many ways, that’s definitely the best comparison to seasons past. Adam didn’t change week-to-week as much as she seems to. I actually thought “Paint It Black” was a bit of an obvious song choice for her, but she did good things with it.

I liked Casey, Mike, Crystal. Thought Didi and Tim were fine. I really dislike Katie and Aaron and Lacey…why did Lilly have to go and those girls stay? Ugh.

I thought Crystal’s was ok…not her best.

I liked Siobhan as usual (easily becoming my favorite), though it wasn’t my all-time favorite female cover of “Paint it Black,” that’s definitely not an easy song to sing well (and she did)

Also, she is nothing like Adam. Except that they’re both “nonstandard” and quirky in their own ways. I think quirky suits her well, especially with the glasses :)

And that’s about it. Everyone else was actually relatively good, but those are the two that were interesting to me.

I loved Siobhan, too. She always looks different and it makes me want to find out what she’s really like.

Crystal needs an attitude ajustment. She seems so depressed.

I seem to be the only person who really liked Crystal last night. She just seems like so much more of a pro than the rest. She does seem upbeat when she talks, but does have a serious look and presents as seeming much older than she is. I noticed in the photos though that she looked older at the age of ten that other kids do. I don’t mean that in a “wrinkled” or unattractive way, she just looks and carries herself as older than her years. Sioban is the most interesting, in the sense that you don’t know what she’ll do next.

Siobhan was also my favorite, but I really liked Didi too. Frankly, I thought the night overall was really pretty good. I don’t recall feeling that positive about any of the shows this season til now. My least favorite was Aaron and probably Lacey. But I’ve found myself not watching the results shows this season for the first time. I can just google the outcome or come to CC!

I missed a bunch last night so i watched them on line today. Although I like Siobhan, her last note was really screechy when listened to on line. I thought it was more interesting last night than it had been before. I too skip the results show. I like Crystal but she is goign to have to watch being so consistent that everything sounds the same in the end. .

Singersmom07 - I also hated that last note that Siobhan screeched. Our whole family is just not into AI this year as none of us feels that the talent is as strong as it’s been in the past.

We have been to see AI a couple of times and my oldest D (who sings) is really hoping we get tickets this season as she wants to hear this group in person. Her comment is that maybe there is something we are missing when we hear them on TV that we will get if we hear them in person.

I’m definitely not into this season of American Idol. Truthfully, IMO–you can find better singers/performers at local coffee houses around the country.

nysmile - I have to agree. Last night was the first night I watched this season and I saw no one that would made me tune in again. I think the spectacle that is has become in the beginning weeks when the goal is to promote the talentless has resulted in the truly talented staying away.

I’m not as interested this year as I have been in the past but love that Crystal Bowersox.
