It’s been confirmed that I know nothing about music, since each week the performer I think does well usually gets all the criticism (and vice versa). Last night I also thought that Siobhan’s last screech was awful. Honestly, we’re only watching in our house because Katie is a classmate of my son’s (and was his “date” in the formalwear portion of the Sophomore Fashion Show ;)).

All I could think last night as I was sitting there while my wife watched it was “Please God, make it stop.” It’s just so wrong to subject the Rolling Stones to that show.

Hoping and praying there will never be a Grateful Dead night.

I knew I wasn’t into it when I didn’t realize until 4 songs in that it was Rolling Stones night. I thought to myself - why did the last 2 both sing Rolling Stones songs? Duh.

This is the first year that I haven’t watched every AI show. I’m thinking that this group is fairly boring. I actually signed up for a stained glass class that meets on Tuesday nights. I would have never missed a Tuesday night in years past.

I love Crystal. Hope she can stay focused. She seems like someone who is so “true” that some of the absurd requirements of the show may be hard for her to handle. I certainly don’t think she sees herself as a shoe-in, historically quirky females have not fared that well.

Michael is talented and likable, but sometimes he seems almost too sure of himself.

Siobhan is an original - and clearly made to perform.

I do wish they would do away with the gender elimination to arrive at the top twelve. It’s nice that they start with twelve girls and twelve guys, but from that point, I wish they would let them perform and eliminate accordingly. The fact that we had to listen to Tim last night was just absurd. Cute guy, nice guy - but really - top twelve???

Pleased with tonight’s elimination.

Ok - some of us rely on CC to let us know who was eliminated - I saw on the web page Lacey is gone. Did they just do 1?

Yep. We are now at the point where we have just one elimination per week. The bottom three were Paige, Tim and Lacey. The judges did not use the “save.” I thought Lacey was just sweet, but I think the judges were wise to hold onto the save in case one week a true contender was eliminated.

I was having a hard time getting over the way Lacey was dressed. Part of it was the fact that her video had just showed this sweet girl from Amarillo, whose parents were both ministers.

Some of the way they dress is due to a stylist which is why we sometimes see them all of a sudden start dressing differently about this time. Didn’t Ryan mention a couple of times to Aaron this week about his “makeover” (honestly, I don’t see much difference in him!)

Last night they interviewed Crystal on our local station (she is from our area). She mentioned in the interview that the stylists were getting frustrated with her. They keep bringing things THEY think she should wear, but she insists that she will only continue to present who she is and who she feels comfortable with. Go Crystal.

I like Crystal alot - of course, it helps she is our “hometown” girl more or less. Honestly, I admire this part of her - staying true to herself - it may prevent her from getting the “prize” they claim she may get, but in the end she is one I believe will not need the win to get a big musical career.

I think the judges will be only saving 3 if the time comes: Michael, Crystal and Siobhan. They will not waste it in lame wannabes Any thoughts?

Pretty much agree - depending on the next couple of weeks, maybe Lee as well. Simon sees potential there (and I know I like him!)

Too bad they couldn’t use the save on Alex last week .
Again, had he lasted and progressed, he MIGHT have been save-able (not a word, right?!)

Agree ^^^^^ (Multitasker)

Abasket - that is what I love about Crystal and what I was referring to in an earlier post. She may not be as cooperative as some of the other contestants - and I mean that as a compliment. Yeah, Barry Manilow week would not be good for her. The great thing is that even if she doesn’t win, she has made an impression and could be very successful in her own right.

OOPS - no offense Abasket - but I thought it was time for Alex to go. Nice guy, but not ready for the harshness of this show.

Gotcha worknprogress!

The perfect thing for Alex would have been to wait a year or two and get maturity and confidence before trying out - his voice has lots of promise, but he needs more than voice to make it.

Did you hear that the his mom had been bugging him since he was 16 about trying out and that the only reason he finally tried out this year (I think he’s 19 or so) was because she threatened to take away his cell phone if he didn’t try out!? Hilarious…the power of the “Mom”…

That’s interesting. He just seemed so ill-suited for the rigors of the show, it was painful to watch him as he was critiqued. He was just so vulnerable.

Alex improved from week to week, plus he was as adorable as a puppy. I would have liked him to make the top ten, which would have allowed him to go on the road with the group and receive a real education about the business. (Normally, Idol contestants exit my short term memory the minute they are voted off, but I keep hearing about Alex at home because my daughter has a mad crush on him.)

Ellen had Alex on her show and he was adorable. I love his raspy voice - I’d buy his music!

I have never even watched AI , but I am aware of Siobhan Magnus because she is from my hometown and I went to high school with her parents.
It is all over the hometown paper’s website, pretty much every day and also most of my old friends from FB are buzzing about her frequently too…The most I have seen is video clips from YT with her singing.
If I watched the show, I would root for the hometown girl :D

Who got the boot last night? I fell asleep and missed the end. Lacy?
