this IDOC request comes from NYU by emai or by collegeboard? I’m sorry I’m dumb
I wish I knew
Do you see IDOC request in your CSS profile?
That’s a large gap, you should talk with your parents. For some people taking $60K in loans (if that’s even an option for you) would be reason enough to deem the school unaffordable. Further, in order to get your student visa, you will have to show that you have the funds to pay for four years of undergrad in the US.
It’s possible to go into IB from UIUC Gies, but it is not a target school. I am not sure if typical IB entry level analyst jobs (and the related internships) will consider international students, can you help @Catcherinthetoast?
Generally, an international student will be expected to go back to their home country after graduating college.
no, I only see the other college I paid for. they asked for idoc before hand
yeah its not a target, so I don’t really find a reason to pay 65k if I am not gonna land something substantial
ya right, same here. I’ve only submitted CSS to Yale and got this IDOC request from CollegeBoard via email. So that’s normal
but from what people are saying, no idoc means automatic rejection.
A girl from my school got accepted ed1 she said she got the IDOC email a week before decision day. She got a full ride
No idoc means NOTHING!!! No one ED 1 got IDOC and a bunch got in.
NYU will send you an email. And like they said, the FA office and Admission office do not work together. If FA has a question or need more documents they will ask you
NYU only uses IDOC for the students who have been selected for CSS verification. It is not a tell. CSS Profile Verification
If a work visa is required IBs will not sponsor junior staff. Since the Trump administration toughened up the scrutiny of these applications it has become very costly and often rejected unless a specific skill that is unique to the applicant and unavailable locally is proven. For analyst level this is a bit of a non starter.
Best shot would be to apply to a global CIB in your home country and acquire targeted skills with the eventual hope of being sent to the US on a secondment and localized. A tough path with uncertainty unfortunately.
Right, we’re probably just obsessing over nothing
Thanks that is very helpful.
We should put this response on your AMA thread too…so many international students looking at IB or other non-STEM jobs do not understand this.
ETA: I posted that response on your AMA thread, hope that’s ok!
so basically since I am an intl landing an ib job very difficult?
Clearly. But we all went by a delusional stage at one point. We should just wait until the 8th or 12th (at least) and then we’d be able to start this astrology thing
Getting a job is hard but IB is worse in NYC.
like companies won’t be willing to take up my visa cost, then spending 350k doesn’t really make sense does it? I won’t be able to earn it back
but I will be needing a work visa
my entire idea of spending 95k a year was being able to earn it back.
