Nordstrom Scholarship

@Betrue, it referred to all the finalists in all regions. They are moving at snail speed! But they will email those that were not finalists, and since that hasn’t happened to anyone yet (hopefully), it shows that they aren’t finished yet

We got to also realize that not everyone is on college confidential so you never know

Did anyone get an email notification yet telling them that they are not a finalist? Also, how is the phone notification situation going? Anyone else notified?

I emailed the director for my region and she said they aren’t finished looking over the apps which is wierd

That is weird, the applicants must be really strong this year for them to take so long

I also asked if those who didn’t make it would be notified and she said the winners will know by nov.

october 31st to be exact.

“winners will be notified no later than october 31st”
or so my area director says

but i bet it prob will be sooner, they just extend the notification dates to cover themselves of angry complaints

has anyone from Missouri been notified about finalist? Me and another girl from my school where selected as semi finalist but we have not been notified of anything.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to apply for a Nordstrom Scholarship Award.

The selection process to determine which semifinalists will advance to the finalist stage has been completed. Unfortunately, you are not among those who have been selected to advance.

The competition was exceedingly strong, and the members of the Selection Committee had difficult choices to make. This year we received more than 13,000 eligible entries from students across the country. That group was then narrowed down to approximately 1,200 semifinalists. Unfortunately, with a limited number of scholarships available, it is not possible to grant awards to each deserving student.

Although your application was not selected to advance to the finalist stage, we recognize and commend your academic accomplishments and encourage you to continue to seek scholarship awards throughout your upcoming senior year.

We wish you every success in achieving your future goals and appreciate the time, thought, and energy you put into your application.

Selection is done :(

I was a semi-finalist from MD. Just notified that I was rejected. Oh well.

@SciMan: “The hawaii/ca stats are a little less impressive 855applicants, 400 semifinalists(i think) 14finalists,9 winners Though no offense to those who made ca/hi finalists.”

Actually, this is what Leslie (the Nordstrom NCal/HI rep) said: 865 applicants, 40 semifinalists (not 400), now there are 14 finalists and there will be 9 winners in the region.

Almost 900 apps and only 9 winners. 1% of applicants winning sounds pretty darn competitive to me. Makes Ivy league acceptance rates look nice. :)

thanks for the correction.
im glad i’m not majoring in medical.
whoops i forgot a zero in the calculation to perform surgury on your child. i’m sorry about the error…

i was saying that compared so the other regions but yah, ivys look very nice now lol

hey, just wondering, does anyone know if the orientation is a formal event?

Orientation??

what?? please explain, i was not notified

DD had Skype interview this morning with committee. There are 14 students left in her region (HI/NorCal) and 9 will get the scholarship. She thinks it went well. Only thing to do now is wait for the results. Keeping my fingers crossed…

maui I wish your DD luck, I just finished my interview also.

It went… I don’t know, average. Since im not a very good speaker I stumbled over my words alot. And being nervous really attacked me.

Guess it was probably really good to do Skype and do it in your own room.

the trip was ill fated in the first place :(, traffic jam added an extra hour to the trip and spent 30 minutes in the parking garage trying to find a spot, had to search the first 6th floors on the place to get a parking spot at a local public nearby parking garage because my mom couldn’t find the designated Nordstrom parking area.

Then spent 20 more minutes trying to find the Nordstrom in a busy shopping area.

The interviewers were really nice people and really polite but I did not put my best foot forward. I wish I could have done better but it’s too late to cry over spilled milk. I guess i wasnt really for the questions that they threw at me. I am still hoping for a miracle and that I get selected. Also fingers crossed for both of us. I am still very glad I had the opportunity to at least be this far in the competition. I wish every one the best of luck.

please post when any of you get notified of results please?
