North Carolina State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

I don’t think so. But for UNC, I might be willing to do students loans if needed. With a degree from there, I should have no issues paying it off somewhat quicikly.

My daughter’s top choices are also UF and UNC and NC State; as well as, Clemson. She did TO on the suggestion of counselors and I just wasn’t sure if she should do that but what do I know. Her score would have been fine 6 or 7 years ago but obviously all scores are inflated now so it’s below the 50th percentile.

I do know a person that was part of the admissions team a few years ago at UNC and I did ask if TO hurts and he said it would never be held against someone. That being said submitting a good score will help, I’m sure

Our son is a freshman at UNC (rejected at NCSU but accepted straight into UNC - not even waitlisted) so there’s hope in strange ways. He submitted scores and they were the same as my daughters but his GPA was much lower so they suggested that.

Good luck to everyone

We talked about this at my school. You have all a large group of great hi stat students all applying to the same schools. It feels like some are playing the lottery and just hoping it works out even tho many of the schools are so different from the next. The result is the average stats are up at every big state school.

I agree. In many ways schools are doing a disservice to students when they allow test optional. Someone with a decent score (say 1210-1350) may not submit scores because it’s below the 50th percentile when it’s a perfectly fine score. So, as we all know, only the highest start to submit and that pushes the 50th percentile even higher each year.

If schools went test required we would see average scores come back down to reasonable levels

Probably won’t change anytime soon since schools are making lots of money on app fees

I didn’t think UNCW had given any merit yet.

They don’t give it for in our out of state unless it’s one of the rare full scholarships.

I didn’t know that either. I don’t think they’ve released their Honors College results yet either.

They have not. I don’t think they’ve given any merit either.

Must’ve got a “not less than $$$” email

I’m actually in an info session with the UNC-W admissions office. He’s saying the limited funds admissions has available to offer directly is typically offered mid-March for early applicants. The majority of their scholarships come through their scholarship portal. Honors decisions are released 2-4 weeks after the EA results.

Not sure if NCSU releases their honors at the same time as admission.

Same. Button missing since maybe around lunch time yesterday.

I didn’t even try the hack. I’m afraid it won’t work and we’ll be disappointed. Waiting till 5.

I didn’t either, as I feel it’s just better to wait it out at this point. Good luck!

Same. DD didn’t want to and I’d be afraid I’d mess up something or they’d somehow know and that would affect the decision, I am paranoid. On pins and needles till 5pm today though, and my kid won’t even be home when it is set to come in, ugh!

FWIW my DD was advised by college counselor not to submit her test scores to NCSU even though they are perfectly respectable IMO. She got 1290 SAT and 28 ACT. She has great grades but standardized tests aren’t her thing. But she submitted scores to 4 other NC universities and has been accepted at all, and offered merit at App State. So today will be deciding factor if we go back and visit App and UNC-Charlotte or not. NCSU is her 1st choice. :crossed_fingers::pray:

My son did submit scores and NCSU is his top choice too. Ugh, the waiting game is killing me!

The button and withdrawal link disappeared on Wednesday. The link under where “Account Tools” has now returned in the past hour.

Our link is back as well. However, it did not disappear until today mid morning. NC State is reach for my kid.

My link disappeared yesterday evening – around 7pm…and is now back.
