How do you get to the scholarship portal? Is it outside of the admissions portal? Our DD is trying to find this and hopefully there is time to be considered. thank you again
S24 is IN!! Honestly shocked right now (also just got into UMD) This was a reach for him based on CDS
OOS
3.9
30 ACT
Strong essay/short answers
EC’s, etc.
Thats not accurate about USC. My son is accepted OOS, havent heard about merit and his grades etc are strong. I spoke with the counselor and he said most OOS will get 10k per year but a very small amount get in -state. Its the exceptiom not the rule.
Interesting - mine got $90k over 4 years (in state tuition) with more likely coming later. She and her 2 friends who applied all got that. (All very strong students.) We saw many who posted about getting between $10-22k per year. (All out of state)
Accepted F24, in-state
First Year Engineering, CS intent
No SAT/ACT scores submitted
Homeschooled, unweighted GPA 3.91
Dual Enrollment student at community college in engineering pathway
Eagle Scout
Paid internship employer recommendation letter
Just to be clear- your daughter and her oos friends heard about merit $ today with their acceptance?
On the wolfpaw admissions portal page on a computer it’s in the right corner of the page. On a mobile device scroll down towards the bottom past tours.
Sorry, no. UNC and in state.
what major?
D24 accepted. Textile Engineering. OOS. ACT 34. National Merit Commended. IB Candidate. 3.85 UW GPA. Rescue SCUBA Diver. X-Country Captain. Other ECs.
Interviewing for Centennial scholarships.
It seems like there’s a mid-term report of some sort built into the Common App. (Like a progress report for 2nd semester) That’s what I would look at submitting. Your guidance counselor should be able to help you navigate that. If you’re able to submit another LOR from an academic teacher that might not be a bad idea.
This is accurate from what we’ve seen too. If you are interested in applying for scholarships in their scholarship portal, don’t delay getting into that. They have no access to the initial application, so you have to enter everything again (activities, awards, short answer/essays). Some of the prompts are very similar to prompts you’ve probably already seen, but others are likely to require a new essay response. Also, save very often. It’s easy to lose work in that portal.
Has anyone who was accepted also receive information on whether or not they were also accepted into the University Honors Program?
My son was accepted into engineering and also applied to the honors program at the same time.
At other colleges you found out in the acceptance letter.
One NCSU website said:
“ In general, the notification date for students who are accepted into the UHP is approximately 2 weeks after NC State’s regular admissions decisions are released, via a notification sent to the email address you have on file in your WolfPaw account .”
Deferred! But I was offered admission to UNC Chapel Hill.
