D is very excited to get in! She’s not home and i am trying to see if she got a scholarship. Where can I see this?

NCSU has a portal for their scholarships application. The priority deadline is mid-Feb. Here’s a link to their FAQ.
I’ve been in the portal with my daughter and would offer this advice. Go in soon and complete the application. Nothing from the original application carries over so they need to re-enter activities, awards/recognitions, and short answer/essays. Also, SAVE often. It is very easy to lose your work on this site. Some of the prompts are very similar to essays your child probably already wrote. At least one prompt is different from any we’ve seen. The application funnels into a bunch of NCSU scholarships – aligned with various interests or qualifiers. Congrats and good luck!
Why does it seem that so many OOS got in when In state did not do as well??
Just perception. By law, NC admits at most 18% of the students from out of state.
Expected yield rate is factored in as well. Typically in-state yield rate is much higher than OOS.
The mandate is not for the percentage of admitted students; it is for actual enrolled students. So, the yield rate plays a role here:
“The 82/18 rule, mandating that no more than 18% of incoming first-year students at UNC System Schools are out-of-state, ensuring room for 82% in-state enrollment, was created in 1986. No changes to the policy have been made since.”
Ok, and it still means that far fewer oos students will be admitted. And in a year when other schools were fined heavily, UNC isn’t going to risk going over. In fact, they are usually about half that amount for oos students.
We know tons of in state kids who got in. My kid said she has only heard of one kid in the top 10% of her class who applied and was denied acceptance. The rest have all posted acceptances. Obviously she doesn’t know all 40 kids in the top 10%, but she knows most of them.
My OOS DD got in! Poultry Science. She was test optional.
What program did they apply to?
Deferred in state - NC State requested current grades to be submitted. Just finished semester with straight As. Currently taking AP Stats and AP Lit. Has anyone received acceptance after sending grades in?
On my Dtr’s application page it said that her first semester grades were submitted Jan 19. We aren’t sure if NC State asked her HS counselor for them or she just sent them on her own. But dtr was accepted on Friday. AP Chem, AP Physics, AP Lit & AP Graphics on her schedule.
I think I read that NC State defers a good number of students and then accepts them RD. Mine uploaded her semester grades a few weeks before decisions to try to deter that from happening. She got in. Not sure it mattered, but in case people read this next year, it’s a strategy!
Our school also updated the Fall 2023 grades before my daughter got deferred on 1/27. Do you think she needs to submit additional grades? She has been working with her school’s counsellor and they told her that they have never seen anything like this before. The language on NC State’s website implies that she should take screen shots of this semester’s percentage grades (anyting she has earned through Feb. 15) and submit those screenshots. Anyone have any insight on this?
I was wondering same thing. What language do you see on their web site about sending screen shots?
