North Carolina State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

See the Q and As at this link about submitting grades: What Does “Deferred for Final Review” Mean? | Undergraduate Admissions

My daughter’s school sent their 1st semester grades too for all kids applying to NCSU and UNC, and she also got into NCSU. She had all As and one B in Calc. 1st semester senior year.

There is an engineering open house on march 23 which admitted or prospective students can attend, if convenient.

Deferred from EA at NC State, anybody received any updates? How likely is it to be accepted in regular decision?

Quite high. Many kids go elsewhere, particularly UNC. Literally thousands of spots open up in April and May. I suggest doing well in your classes and sending them an updated transcript. Hang in there. Also depending on the major, spring admission is a possibility.

Be prepared for a spring admit offer.

Post for people next year waiting for early action decisions and come back to this thread. This is for College of Design, Studio-Based. From this year and years past, decisions for the CoD seem to trail anywhere from 1-3 weeks after the January 30th date. The portal originally said decisions January 30th but changed to mid to late February on February 1st. This is for ones who were not admitted in December and waiting for decisions after interviewing (some are accepted or denied in December without interview). We received an acceptance on February 9th, the interview was January 20th. The withdrawal button never disappeared. We checked the portal multiple times a day. Never tried the hack for the account. Hope this helps someone next year!

Hi all. Need some info. My son was accepted but not ready to make a decision yet. He is scehduled for an admitted students day in April.

But what do I need to know about housing? I read a facebook post that housing for freshman opens on friday. What does that mean? is there a first come first serve?

NCSU sent out an email today with housing info for admitted students (went to parents and students). That email covers Learning Villages more than anything, but it’s helpful. From what we understand, the housing application opens for incoming 1st year students on Feb. 23. It is not binding at all. Completing the application puts the student in line for housing once the decision deadline passes. Incoming 1st years can’t request a specific dorm except through applying for a Learning Village (if accepted into a village, the student lives wherever that group stays). All of the details about each group is linked in the email and on the NCSU housing website). If a student isn’t applying to live in a LV, he/she will live wherever assigned. I believe students can indicate a preference of room types (hall, suite, hotel style) and that info is also described on the housing site.

Thank you. I didnt get the email but will talk to my son about it this weekend.

Living and Learning Villages

Hi ,

Finding your fit in a new community is never easy. That’s why we designed our Living and Learning Villages to be spaces for students with common interests to create meaningful friendships that will last beyond the college years.

What is a Living and Learning Village?
Living and Learning Villages
are residential communities where students, staff and faculty with a common identity, skill or academic interest live and learn side-by-side. Villages offer their members a unique opportunity to develop personally and professionally in a tight-knit social atmosphere. Watch this video to learn more about the benefits of living in a Village.

Who can Live in a Village?

All on-campus residents are eligible to live in a Village. We strongly encourage students who identify as first generation college students and international students to apply. Villages welcome students who:

  • Want to establish a sense of belonging and connectedness to the NC State community.
  • Value experiences that promote learning, reflecting on the personal impact of the experience, increasing self-awareness and moving closer toward career readiness and achieving long-term goals.
  • Seek to go beyond their comfort zone.
  • Solve big problems through the application of knowledge.

What are the Next Steps?

Each Village has different requirements to best meet the needs of the community. Before applying to a Village, make sure you explore the Village options and review our program requirements thoroughly.

Spaces in our Villages are limited, so be sure to apply as soon as possible once the University Housing application opens on February 23.

If you have any questions, please email us at ncstate-villages@ncsu.edu.

Wow … it let me paste the whole email

Last night, D24 announced her decision, she has enrolled at NC State for textile engineering with a textile technology minor. Go Pack!

Honors college decisions are out! 550 selected out of 10,000 applicants is CRAZY! Mine was pretty shocked to be accepted.

Congratulations, wondering what perks they have? There is no money value for those.

Not sure. She actually just chose to accept her offer to UNC, so she won’t be going there, but is still very honored.

We went to an information session last weekend and were impressed by the presenter and the program. Here’s a link to the FAQ for the UHP. Our daughter hasn’t committed to a school yet (waiting on 2 more results), but she plans to accept the UHP invitation if she decides to go to NCSU. She’s looking for tight-knit community experience with access to mentoring and support & liked the travel and experiential learning opportunities. She also enjoys seminars, performances & guest lectures. I think she’s definitely in their target audience – loves enrichment, campus involvement, and coaching.

D24 enrolled at NCSU. Waitlisted for honors.

I suspect opportunities will open up as enrollment commitments happen. Between the spikes in # of applications and the delays in FAFSA, I think people will hold out longer than normal for results and aid info before committing – so getting off waitlists is more likely than it used to be I suspect.
