Rejected for SESP Social Policy.
Yup. Iâm amazed that the schools take so many on the waitlist, but I guess itâs no cost to them so why not?
Just seems like it gives them a lot of apps to look through when they actually get to it.
CDS doesnât have a recent number. S24 saw 3,000 from some prior year.
Informal poll of how many here who were accepted have kids from your high school at Northwestern right now??? Just curious about a theory I have

My son was accepted!!! Anybody know whether they offer non need merit?
Yes
The FA info/letter is in the portal.
Waitlisted
3.98 UW/Test Optional
11 AP
Strong ECâs
Wishing I interviewed and wrote both optional supplementals
They used to have more general merit aid, but it is now almost exclusively dependent on either need or demographics (e.g. Chicago Public Schools, etc.).
No, Northwestern does not award scholarships based on academic merit.
Anything for national merit finalists?
A roughly 1 in 10 chance at admission.
I donât know if they currently give any awards to NMFs. They used to give small amounts ($500-2000) but I see nothing on their current scholarship page mentioning NM scholarships. You should check with Northwestern for a definite answer.
They used to, but it has been steadily reduced (down to $500 3 years ago) and, looking at their website, it appears the answer is no now.
My kid received the one-time NMSC $2500 award, I will have to figure out if they will just reduce his aid scholarship by that much.
Will you share your theory? I just looked at our tiny schoolâs scattergram. 11 apps over past few years. 2 acceptances including my 24. None attending (so far!)
S24 rejected for NU.
Weâve been praying for clear Accepted and Rejected so this is an answer to prayer. This was his second choice dream school so heâs good with it (got into 1st choice already).
Just a theory that the more they know a high school the more theyâre likely to pull from one, regardless if the high schools are otherwise equal. Those stats are good!
