@Andromeda10 Excellent - congratulations to your son and the family!
Just got a call this morning! So excited.
I got the call almost a week ago and still haven’t received my Financial Aid offer. Gettin a little antsy!
@sahood26 Congratulations!!!
@randomguy23143 You might want to give a call to the nice people at the Office of Financial Aid, make sure they have everything they need from your side and ask them in regards to the expected date for your FA package. When is your confirmation response date?
they told us 5 days after we get our financial aid so he has some more time
Did anyone receive a welcome packet in the mail yet? I thought my admissions counselor said I would receive one, but its been a week and a half since I was accepted and I still haven’t gotten one. I know the mail is slower right now, but I was expecting it last week. Maybe I misunderstood and he was talking about the financial aid packet I would be receiving by email, but I thought I would be receiving a hard copy of my acceptance letter and such.
@joleigh42 You will receive a Welcome Home package delivery by mail. Given the time sensitivity related to admissions from the waiting list, it will be advantageous to respond after the FA package has been received and reviewed in detail, based on the specific confirmation response date information you have received. All the best!
@hpcsa I got it back, we were excited at first because we thought it would only be around $18,000 out of pocket for my parents (which my parents could stretch to but would be tight), but we called the financial aid office and apparently tuition went up a few thousand, so now it will be around $22,000. Not really sure what we will do at this point, my local flagships 4 year cost would be about the same as one year of Notre Dame…
@randomguy23143 Glad you received the FA package information: both CoA and FA should be included. Ultimately, only you and your parents will be able to make this decision, weighing in-state public vs. a ND reviewed full need-based package. All the best in the decision process - there is no right or wrong answer, decisions will differ based on family circumstances.
I received my call yesterday morning. Has anyone received their financial aid and it has costed more than when you complete the net price calculator?
@mjr657 I did the quick-estimate and mine was around the same. Admissions office said that they removed my home-equity in order to make it a little bit cheaper for me. It took about a week to get my FA package after I got the call.
@randomguy23143 - as I mentioned before - look into graduation rates at 4 years. Most schools report 6 year rate first, then 4 year is buried somewhere in the fine print. I say this because ND will do everything to help you graduate in 4 years. Many state schools will expect it to be more like 5 years.
I realize it is still a very difficult decision - $88k vs $20k in cost/debt over the 4 years. Best of luck to you.
is accepting your spot and depositing with Notre Dame a binding decision?
@jacobgutierrez Yes it is.
@jacobgutierrez It also is unethical, as well as unfair, as it would take up a spot from the waiting list that would instead go to another student. If you need additional information, i.e. financial aid etc., ask for an extension of your individual confirmation date.
hey everyone! I just got off the waitlist this afternoon, and I’m pretty sure that it was because I sent another LOCI just a few hours before that. I had already sent a couple of emails to my AO, and in this one I said that although I had already put my deposit down at my second-choice school, my heart was still set on Notre Dame, and I would gladly enroll if I were to be accepted.
I was kind of hesitant in sending the email because I didn’t want to be annoying, but I’m glad I did. I suggest that if any of you are still waiting to hear from them, send another quick email just to let your AO know that you’re still interested.
@lvt0702 Congratulations!
Is there any international student that got it off waitlist now? It seems that all the good news are from domestic students.
@wmboncourage Just a small sample of students will be posting their admission decision from the waiting list on this this thread. Best of luck and success to you!
