Beautiful suit.

There are like 6 inches of her ankles showing. Who cares if she has hosiery or not? Would it really look awful if she was wearing nude hose? Personally, I think it would look about the same. Now, if it was short skirt and the hose were tan and came out of a little white egg it would look dated. But, I also see 20-somethings wearing that look these days. So, maybe this is one of those if you did it the first time around you are too old to do it again fashion things.

Gorgeous suit! Not only the suit is covering most of her leg but also her shoes are peep-toe pumps (gorgeous as well, but I would never dare to wear heels this high ). IMO, hose and peep toe pumps is not a good combo. Wearing hose with strappy sandals is also not a good look.

Exactly, Flossy. The L’Eggs of the 70s/80s were hideous in retrospect. Modern high-quality hosiery is not even in the same ballpark.

Nylons, IMO, give a finished, polished look – IF they are good ones. I don’t have legs like Angelina Jolie, or like my 23-year-old D who also looks fabulous bare-legged. My 59-year-old legs need a little help, and I’m glad it’s now considered acceptable to help them.

I was at the mall today to buy som Donna Karan nude fishnet stockings. I couldn’t find any and will have to try a highe end mall. However I was looking at her nude hosiery and I won’t fork out $28 for a pair. So since its been quite a few years what should I buy? Or if you mean higher end…you mean the $20 ones. I don’t see myself wearing them often, but every now and then tights will just not go with a particular outfit or shoes. Angelina isn’t wearing them, so it’s probably not the height of fashion. She couldn’t have worn them with peep toes. I think if her skirt had been above the knee, it wouldn’t have looked that great though.

Gorgeous suit.

This is where it came from:

http://www.ralphandrusso.com/

I like that Kate didn’t have hose - but honestly, I DISLIKE the suit! I totally am not a suit person and avoid wearing one at all costs but I especially don’t like hers - too much fru-fru for me!

I’m not crazy about the suit and I think she’d look better with stockings on.

If Angelina Jolie could use some stockings, what about the rest of us?

They really do make all of our legs look better (after a certain age).

“I’ve read Jennifer Lawrence wear Spanx? What?”

Um, lots of celebrities wear Spanx.

If I wanted to go high end on stockings, I would buy Oroblu (recommended by Bunsen Burner!) but I would be sure to buy them from Nordstrom in case I didn’t like them or they ran right away or whatever. I bought Oroblu fishets at the Annual Sale but I haven’t worn them yet.

Well…I bought some silky Leggs hosiery (with no roll waistband). It’s not real chilly yet in the midwest, so feel it’s a bit early for black tights. I put on a black pencil skirt, black platform heels with the hose…felt SO middle aged, I had to take them off. I didn’t have time to change outfits, so threw on some black hose which look better…but not as fashionable as my black tights.

I think I’ll save the nude hose for just certain outfits. I have a bright royal blue shorter skirt…maybe wear them with my nude platform shoes…we’ll see. I’ll try it once. Or wear them with my animal print heels and skirt. But never again with black skirt and black heels. OMG…I felt like I was in the 1980’s…haha.

The leggs silky hose looked very nice, though, and they were only $5.

Yea… I can see not wanting to be in the 1980s. But I am OK looking middle aged… because hey, I am middle aged. . Ditto for some of my best friends

I thought once we reach middle age we have the freedom to be what we want to be without worries, no?

True…but my freedom is to NOT look middle aged.

Not fond of the '80s? How about retro '60s?

Bookmarked! my kid loves all things socks!

Conmama, if hose makes your outfit look like it came from the 80s, maybe a more dramatic change of the outfit is needed than just taking off the hose. I cannot think of any of my current clothes that would look like they were put together 3 decades ago if I add hose to them. Although, on a second thought, a mid-knee skirt and a structured shirt could do.

I’m wearing a pencil skirt that is about the same length as Angelina’s, but since I have booties on (and it is 50 degrees outside!), I also have my trusted black opaque hose on.
