Nude Hosiery....finally making a comeback!

The evolution:

 • Support pantyhose
 • no hose + spanx
 • spanx + hose

Full circle, lol…

Well, I was talking about the patterned ones actually.

Today I’m wearing footless black tights (crop length) with a light-ish weight Athleta dress and black patent leather flats. Must say, these are cheapo tights - from Target - and they feel GREAT!!! It feels like a nice step for weather a little cool for bare legs and not cool enough for heavier leggings.

I bet you look sharp! I like the sound of your outfit. Today I am wearing black trousers with black platform pumps with black fishnet stocking trouser “socks”. Just that little bit of black fish give an oompf to the outfit.

My poor boss, she’s as cute as can be and wears really cute dresses and no hose and her poor legs always look mottled with cold. There ain’t no fashion statement worth that, IMO. @@

oh man, I wish I had had those suspenders last fall for my son’s wedding. a friend talked me into thigh high hose and those sucker rolled right down. I was sooooooo uncomfortable.
And, I’m old enough that my first hoisery experience when I was 12 involved “suspenders” known as garter belts! Praise God pantyhose came out like the very next year.

I experimented with no hose the other day in the beginning of October (and it was not rainy). Let’s say I’m done with that trend. Black (or brown) tights or nude hose trumps bare skin with goosebumps.

Most, if not all, of my friends go bare legged; I just can’t do it. I have very pale legs with more varicose veins than I want to share with the public, plus my legs are always cold. I usually wear pants unless I can’t, like a funeral, wedding or synagogue. If I wear a dress, I have on the sheerest hose I can fine that will cover my legs and not make me look like a nun! Yes you know I have on nude hose, but I don’t think they look bad.

The other issue is my legs have no shape to them at all and have more juggle than I would like. I am not overweight at all, but my legs are my least favorite part. Even went I went though chemo and weighed 100 pounds, my legs looked like tree trunks. So, I would rather look different and wear a pair of hose, that subject others to my legs ;)

My son is getting married next year and I am hoping as the MOTG that I get to wear a long dress; then I won’t have to worry about wearing stockings!!!

I was at a wedding yesterday, and was not the only woman there wearing nude hose. I can’t wear closed-toe shoes barefooted, nor do my legs look all that good bare. Apparently, I’m not the only one.

This thread and a previous thread about wearing sleeveless dresses got me thinking how how easy men have got it, not having any body part routinely on display for public judgement.

I’m wearing my new Donna Karan fishnet hosiery today with nude platform pumps and a bright blue skirt. It looks very nice, and I do like it better than nude hosiery. It doesn’t have the “shine” or look of hose, but my legs do really look semi-bare (which I guess they are). You don’t even notice the fishnet part unless you are looking for it, so it’s appropriate for the office. My legs have a bit of sag in the knees now, but no veins, so in the summer I look okay enough without hosiery. But these look great in that it hides that saggy knee, and my legs just look better.

The only downside is they are $25 and the toe part just has a seam. i would think for that amount of money it would have a sewn in toe part. The waist is satiny feeling and NOT constricting at all, I love that part.

I’m being really careful thought because, unlike my $5 hose, I don’t want to run these.

Thanks for the follow up, conmama. I am planning to invest in a pair.

Any hose that eliminates the saggy knee look is a winner in my books. Thanks for the report!

My fishnets run less because…well, not a contiguous piece of material.

“This thread and a previous thread about wearing sleeveless dresses got me thinking how how easy men have got it, not having any body part routinely on display for public judgement.” - So true.

But…remember that sleeveless dress styles are optional. Other styles are harder to find, but they are out there. I have a dressy dress from Kohls with cap sleeves (a somewhat loose fit) that I love.

If anyone is interested in a 25% off those Spanx fishnets mentioned upthread, Nordstrom is “price matching” today:

Also, my downtown store had an in-store discount on all Wolford tights, which almost never happens.

My 20 yr old D is pretty pale. She had an event to go to and needed a dress. Zappos to the rescue. Sent her 7 and she liked one but was concerned about her legs. Thinking of this thread I recommended she try nude hose. She was thrilled. Her best line was “why had she never heard of panty hose before?”
I should get her a pair of the Spanx since they should last several wearings. Of course this is my one child who is so easy to buy for.
My other D has had to wear hose in a few of her jobs. She hates them. She wears suits with pants only to avoid them.

If anyone thinks that spending $25 on a pair of tights is outrageous, how about this one for a good laugh?

Dang, it does not come in nude! ;)

Omg…that is unbelievable!

Wow, that seems uncomfortable!
