We are in state NJ. Son has narrowed it down to Uconn, Fairfield or TCNJ. Would anyone like to add any pros and cons to the matter? His goal is to get into ICU immidiately to get pre reqs in order to apply for CRNA.
We are still on the waiting list for Rutgers, if he gets off, he will definitely enroll there. But for the time being he is looking for the next best thing. Just looking for any insights if anyone has them. Thank you

I know nothing about TCNJ, but we are in CT. Mine chose Ffld over UCONN. She doesn’t love the campus (I assume you visited and yours does), and clinicals can be FAR….learned this bc alot of local kids go here. Ffld you have access to alot of bigger hospitals….Yale, Stamford, Bpt, etc etc As an aside, we recently had a family member in ICU at St Vincents in Bpt and the Ffld students came through.

I think my S26 is leaning towards Fairfield himself. So your D will be attending decided on Fairfield? Yes, clinicals could be far. I will get him a car as soon as he starts clinicals.
Campus he doesnt “love” but likes it enought to attend. Smaller school as you already know. Wasnt his overall choice but says its 60/20/20 Fairfield. Lets see.
Did your daughter ask for the LLC for Nursing?

Yes, she will be at Fairfield, will do STEM/Nursing LLC vs Honors. To clarify, I meant UCONN clinicals are far and she didn’t like that campus…..not sure if I was clear! She loves the FU campus. It was her first choice!

Yes, I understood. Uconn mentioned they sometimes need to commute 1-1:15 to clinicals.
My son definitely leaning towards FU. We are in NJ, so only 1.5 hours from home. If he attends I also want him to get into LLC. I will seek out for info from you if he does choose to enroll there lol
If he gets off of waiting list for Rutgers, he will attend there like I previously mentioned. But, need to make our “1b” choice soon. FU was always in his top 3. He likes it there as well. Decision coming very soon. At least that’s what he keeps on telling me.
HOnestly UCONN can even be further. Friend’s daughter went all the way to Yale New Haven.

So, we S26 Finally made his decision…. Its Fairfield Univerisity for him. We enrolled yesterday and will be attending orientation on June 17th.

We finally have a decision too – it’s off to CWRU for nursing.
Edited to add, stats are upthread, but for future applicants/families, here were the final results:
Accepted Direct Admit Nursing (all with merit): Pitt, CWRU, Miami (FL), Marquette, Creighton, USF-CA, Iowa (w/a direct admit spot), Tennessee, TCU
Waitlisted Direct Admit Nursing: Michigan, NYU, Villanova (declined WL spots at all except Michigan)
Denied Direct Admit Nursing: BC
My D also applied to two schools in a non-nursing major and was accepted: UIUC (kinesiology) and Boston University (health sciences/dpt).

Going to be honest as a longtime RN and CRNP - it won’t matter where he attends school, as long as he keeps his GPA up. Hospitals honestly don’t give much thought to where an RN graduated from when they hire them for clinical-based jobs. He should look for hospitals that have nurse externships in the ICU if his goal is to go back for his DNP as a CRNA. That would probably be the best way to get his foot in the door into an ICU after he graduates and passes the NCLEX. Some hospitals also have competitive new grad internship programs specifically for ICU/CCU/ER. These programs will look at his GPA and previous clinical experience (eg working as a PCA, nurse extern, etc).
I always tell people that if their ds or dd is set on being a nursing major, then choose the school that will put them least in debt or no debt. CRNA programs are VERY expensive now - save the money for them.

Congrats on Case Western! 
I think CWRU was the most impressive nursing program that we toured with my S25. And with the merit that they give, it’s such a great value.

will do! I do know that they will arrive at Orientation with the 3-4 “nursing” classes pre-registered. That’s about it! I’m local if you have any questions about the area (15 min from campus)
