Congrats on CWRU, TCU, FSU, and Auburn! Your D already has some very good options (with nice merit), and it sounds like she is a competitive applicant at her remaining schools. It’s just too bad that nursing programs are so competitive. Please keep us posted. We have a few pending overlapping schools (Michigan, Miami, and Villanova, which I consider to be reaches for my D given their low acceptance rates). Also, my oldest graduated from Tulane (I was not even aware they had nursing!); I am happy to answer questions about that one, if you have any.

Tulane is adding a nursing school, it’s not open yet, but I believe they are committed to having it operational by our D’s sophomore year. We threw in a a late application when we leaned of this. Very tough to get into Tulane via regular admission.

I don’t have a lot of information on it but looking at their registration portal it looks like Undergraduate Nursing classes at Tulane started being offered in the Fall '24 semester.
D26 is also awaiting results from Rutgers, Uconn, UDel and Umass Amherst (and NYU, though unlikely due to low acceptance rate and/or cost). She has acceptances so far from Binghamton, Montclair, Stockton, Quinnipiac, Seton Hall and Pace.

Just to updated everyone, our D was accepted at the University of Michigan this evening so it looks like we have a Wolverine!! We heard from our college counselor that UM was going to send out some notifications in January and prioritize students who applied Early Decision like our D. So when we saw there was an update in her admission status we felt it would likely be good news!! We are very proud of our D26 and glad the stress of this part of her journey is over and really happy that all of her hard work paid off in the end. Our oldest D did not get into her early decision school so we have seen both sides of this equation. I wish everyone the best of luck.

We are officially done with early action, so I thought I would share a quick update:
Accepted DA Nursing: Miami (FL), Case Western, Pitt, Tennessee, Creighton, Marquette, and USF-CA.
Deferred: Michigan, TCU and Villanova
No rejections yet. Waiting for a couple of regular decisions and the Iowa DA decision.

Just to update everyone on my D’s early action results: She applied ED to Michigan was deferred for a week and then accepted and offered a partial merit award/scholarship. She also received direct admit acceptances and partial merit awards from Miami (FL), Ohio State, Case Western, TCU, and FSU. Case and TCU offered significant $$, Auburn accepted but didn’t offer $, Clemson and Villanova deferred. The only school my D did not get into was UF, which was shocking. My D has sent her deposit into Michigan which was her original first choice, today she got a direct admit to Ohio State Nursing which is a slightly higher ranked program then UM and they offered my D more $, but its really hard to turn down Michigan so I am pretty sure my D will stick with her commitment, we may go take another look at OSU since getting a direct admit is a huge deal. We pulled the rest of her apps including Georgetown, UT, BC, Tulane, Auburn and UVA. I have posted her numbers previously but to summarize she had a 97.25 GPA out of maximum of 100 at top 50 nationally ranked high school, her SATs were 1420 (720 Math and 700 Verbal), she is a 4 year 3 season varsity rider in Hunters and has won numerous ribbons and awards in horse competitions and qualified for Southeast Regional Finals. She completed academic programs and took college equivalent courses at at Harvard and Georgetown during her sophomore and junior summers, she volunteered at a pediatric long term care facility in Texas and did the clinicals for her CNA certification, she volunteered at a local hospital and did an internship for a US Senator in Washington DC. That would be amazing, glad to hear he love the program, we visited Ann Arbor on St Patricks Day last year and my D fell in love with UM which made me nervous because its so damn hard to get into. Is there a way to private message on this site?

My daughter received her acceptance to UConn Nursing this afternoon. We have put it back into consideration since she received merit with the acceptance. Can anyone tell me about how far the students have to travel for clinical rotations. Which dorm do the students live in for the nursing living and learning community. Thanks!

We visited UConn last year. We were told that clinicals can be far (as far as Yale, which is 60 miles – more than a one-hour drive – away). Others are closer, in Hartford (27 miles – approximately 30 minutes – away). Have you visited? Storrs is very rural, and there really isn’t much of a college town around the campus. It seemed like a good program, but I would recommend a visit (if you haven’t already).
Yes we have visited and plan to visit again. My daughter is most concerned about its location. Her first choice is Pitt but she did not receive any merit and I am having a hard time swallowing a 70+K OOS cost of attendance. Any thoughts on Rutgers (still waiting on financials) or Rhode Island?

We are in-state. Mine did not apply bc clinicals are far and she doesn’t love the campus. This is an either you “love it or dont” campus and I would highly recc a visit!

I have no insight into Rutgers or Rhode Island, but they are both great schools with well-regarded nursing programs. You really can’t go wrong with any of the choices you’ve listed!
Son was accepted to UConn as well. He has arrowed his choices to
Pitt (unlikely because of only $4000 merit per), Uconn 14k per Merit, Fairfield 34k per Merit. Waiting to see if he gets off of the waiting list at Rutgers and that may be in conversation as well. Very suprised he was waitlisted.

Can I ask you if you asked for more merit at Fairfield? Mine got 30/yr and was told it was their highest merit award. Just curious if you asked for more and it was granted. Also did yours apply ED or EA? Thanks for any info!
We did not ask for more, he was giving an extra “catholic school” grant since he attends a Jusuit HS. The extra grant was unexpected but appreciated. Its really $33.6k/yr He received 30k plus the $3600 on the grant.
