Nursing (BSN) Admits Fall 2026 - Class of 2030

I did ask at the Pitt admitted student event, and GAP spots are held open for students who need to get clinical experience first, including CRNA (anesthesia). I believe Pitt has a few DNP programs that require clinical experience before applying: Nurse Anesthesia, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, and Health Systems Executive Leadership. I didn’t really push on how many years the GAP spot is held, but she specifically noted that several programs require clinical experience first, so students would not go straight into graduate school…

Makes perfect sense. I should have looked into it a little more. That will be something i will bring up when we attend in February for sure.

Im sure my S26 will sit down with counselors at any school he attends to make sure he will be on correct path for when its time to apply for CRNA. Also, since he will be working on for 1-2 years at ICU, i think it will be easier for him to shadow Anesthesiologists/CRNA and get tons of hours under his resume. Thats just me thinking, wouldnt know for sure.

That makes sense. I have no idea if we will actually use the GAP spot. It’s just one more thing in the bucket, I guess.

Absolutely! Shows the hardwork your D26 put into her academics being accepted to Honors and GAP at Pitt.

CT….and she wants to stay close….wants to do clinicals in our hospitals. She volunteers there now. Far cry from my first who is in TX at school….I’ll take it! Funny, she doesnt love Quinnipiac bc Nursing is off campus but is interested in Seton Hall….we will see when we visit!

I want my S26 to pick schools he will absolutely love, but secretly praying its a school that is closer to us. I feel your happiness knowing she wants to stay close. We visited Quinnipiac, i loved it, my Son did not…lol Didnt even apply.

Seton Hall is also on the “smaller” side of schools. Very nice, but not as big as he wants. COme to realize after writting all of these messages, my son is very picky. lol

So many good acceptances! Congrats! Does your child have a favorite?

Not prestige. I would look at NCLEX pass rates and would look for programs with pass rates above 90%. I think for BSN programs, getting out cheaply at a solid program is the aim. My youngest will have loans but I am hoping it will be less than $20k and I will try to help her pay them back. My oldest got her B.S. with no loans but now is going back for her ABSN. She had gotten into the MESN program at Duke but it would have cost over $100k!!! Even though Duke is one of the top programs in the country, it wasn’t worth that much. The ABSN program is far, far less because it is at a public university but they have great NCLEX pass rates so she is excited to go. Since she will be paying for this on her own, she really is trying to reduce her loans. Both my girls plan to get advanced degrees at some point, so the focus has really been on solid programs that will give them the chance to be debt free as soon as possible.

Just a few more updates S26 was accepted to;

Scranton - 140k Merit

Montclair - 40k Merit in State

USF

UCF - Not Direct Admit

Rejected from Tennesee for 2026, but guaranteed a spot in 2027. Which we will not consider.

Thanks for adding an update. That is some serious merit at Scranton and Montclair – congrats!! Does your son have a favorite yet?

Here is my D’s update:

Pitt - OOS accepted nursing with merit ($5k per year), honors, and GAP

Creighton – accepted nursing with merit ($31k per year) with an invitation to apply to Harper Nursing Scholars (full tuition) (not sure if she will do that application or not)

USF-CA – accepted nursing with merit ($25k per year)

UTK – OOS accepted nursing with merit ($9k per year)

Iowa – OOS accepted pre-nursing, with her direct admit application pending

A few more this week, including Marquette, Case Western, and TCU. She will also have a few decisions in late January, and then in March.

Thats awesome, congratulations to your D. My S26 was not accepted to UTK, but given a seat for the 2027 class. This was his #1a after Pitt. But no way will he skip a year to go to UTK. We should be hearing from Fairfield and Rutgers son.

Good luck! My D should hear from TCU and Case tonight, I think.

No - where they get their BSN from does not matter, as long as it is an accredited program. As a nurse and current NP, I obtained both degrees from the same in-state public school (about 10 years apart) and saved A LOT of money. Never had any issues finding a job for either role.

Quick update:

We have acceptances from: Case Western, Pitt, Tennessee, USF-CA, Marquette, and Creighton. Merit at all, ranging from $5,000/year (Pitt) to $35,000+/year (CWRU, Creighton). TCU was a surprise deferral. My D’s stats were well above the TCU averages, but I am guessing she fell short in the applicant interest category. Or maybe they just didn’t like her for some reason?

TBD: Iowa (admitted pre-nursing, direct admit app pending), Villanova, Michigan, Miami, and BC. I would not be surprised if D ended up with rejections or deferrals for all of these schools because they are so selective. I am relieved that she has some good choices already.

Good luck to all of our future nurses – and happy holidays!

Update…Accepted to Fairfiled w/ 28k merit per year. Acceptged to TCNJ w/ 8k Merit per year.

Waiting on Rutgers, UConn, Umass Amherst, Udel, and maybe 1 more that i cant remember. But also glad he has great choices. Even though Pitt is his clear #1 now after the bad news from Tennesee, i dont see the 72k price tag as being the smart move for undergrad. If accepted for Anesthesia there, hands down ita a no brainer.

My daughter has received acceptances to Case Western ($142K merit scholarship), TCU (128K merit scholarship), FSU (In State Tuition and $2K per semester) and Auburn. Auburn and FSU are not direct admit schools so those are pre-nursing admits. She applied Early Decision to Michigan was deferred and shockingly she was also deferred from Clemson. We are waiting on decisions from UVA, Georgetown, Villanova, Miami, Tulane, University of Texas, University of Florida and Ohio State. My daughter is a strong student she attends a top 50 nationally ranked high school, she has 97.5 GPA (her school doesn’t go any higher then 100) and she has mid 1400 SATs with 700s in both math and verbal. Her school offers many AP equivalent courses, she is taking Linear Algebra and she is also taking AP Stats and AP Bio. She is a 4 year varsity rider (Hunters) with a number of ribbons and awards and she qualified for Southeast Regional Finals one year. She has also done a summer intro to nursing program at Georgetown, she also took a summer college course on international relations at Harvard her sophomore summer and she is 90 percent done with her CNA certification and has volunteered at our local hospital. I am hoping she gets a few more acceptances, her list is insanely competitive so its been a very anxious Christmas. We are very grateful for he schools that have accepted her (she definitely has a few good choices) already).
