******NYU Class of 2020 RD Discussion******

IS LSP THE SAME AS GSP?

Can you tell us some more about the core program? Is it limiting in a way that is not obvious at first? Are you on one of the international campus’?

No, I don’t think it is negotiable.

me again hoping you will add more explanation. thanks

Ok, check on the website today and found the Apr 8 admitted students event for Tandon School of Engineering. We’re going to attend. Hope to see some of you there.

@clnation What I have learned about the core program is that it’s a liberal arts education program you’re in for two years and you take all the required courses for your core curriculum, then you transfer into another college within NYU (CAS and others are automatic, but you have to apply for schools like Stern/Tisch) for your junior year. LS is not the same as GLS. I was disappointed in being put in it at first but it’s the same as what you would be learning in CAS because it’s the core curriculum that you have to satisfy. It’s different because you’re in smaller classes. When I first heard about it, I was upset because I wanted to take classes related to my major but you can do that in LS! You take 4 classes per semester (usually totaling 16 credits, a full schedule), 3 of which are the core curriculum courses and 1 being the “4th class” that’s an elective (some of the elective courses are offered through LS or I think you can take classes in CAS).

@seeniebeenie is a current LS student and really helped me understand the program and now I’m really excited about it! (after being totally upset). They directed me towards http://www.nyu.edu/as/lsp/advising/StudentAdvising/LS/Registration/Entering-Freshman/Registration%20Handbook%20Final%202015.pdf
which gave me a really good understanding on the curriculum, and I also looked at the bulletin which you can find by googling “liberal studies bulletin nyu”

In your application, you selected to be considered for the LS program and listed your campus preferences. I picked NYC as my first choice, so if I attend NYU I will be there, but there are other international campuses in Paris, London, etc. and in your acceptance letter it will say, “Your offer of admission is extended with the expectation that you will spend your freshman year in _____” (NYC for me) and that’s where you will be freshman year. Hopefully this helps!

What do people put down for “screen name” in the housing application? Not sure if they mean nickname or real screen name.

Accepted to CAS! SAT 2000 and GPA 3.98. Sooooo excited!!! Saw the email in my chem class and my teacher let me go call my mom aha!

I’m little late positing this but… I GOT ACCEPTED TO STERN!!! I still can’t believe I got accepted to my top choice. I’m debating between Georgetown and NYU… Best of luck to everyone in this thread! We can do anything and anything is possible!
