********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

@iywang any particular order? East to west? By order of entry into the Union? By physical distance from NY? Average number of Starbucks? 0_o Also, I regret taking classes right when there’s a FA change. Just my luck.

@Merppity Bruh. Just check in with other NYU ED applicants in your state.

Guys, Fun part is gone… I do not think it will reappear before the decision day.

Take home message:
1, If you are lucky enough to see the change, you are likely accepted, my guess!
2, If you had change but you missed, you are also likely accepted without any clues. Too bad, just be patient!
3, If you haven’t had any change so far, you still have time to receive the “hidden” change (people last year had change the day before decision). If you are accepted in this catergory, you will be paid in big by NYU. Of course, you may also have a little bigger chance to be rejected.
Good luck everyone! Again please “see something, say something”. let’s continue to have fun…

@iywang i would, but we seem to be quite rare here on CC forums

@Merppity , my understanding that application read (takes a lot of time, preliminary scoring) is carried out state by state, region by region. However, the committee (decision/selection) should be done quickly. It does matter where you come from, they should reach the final decision in a few days. I think by now all ED1 spots should be decided; they are currently preparing acceptance package (major part is FA package) for decision releases.

@Collegegal06 Take the test. Even if it doesn’t have a bearing on your admittance to NYU, it could have a bearing on potential scholarships.

@Merppity Someone posted an admissions blog story about it. It didn’t look like they did it in any particular order. My bet is that they start with the states that are presently underrepresented in their student body first. NY, NJ, and CT are probably among the last ones.

Exception, special cases such as talents, recruited athletes etc. may take different decision approaches.

@stern2020 That’s a fair assumption; something innate tells me that too. My FA change from before Thanksgiving is gone (just like what happened for some others) but that’s okay!

I think I’m logging out of this website for good until decisions day. Peace out guys

@stern2020 where did you get information about the “last in, most money” theory.

I, on the other hand, believe financial packages is very much unpredictable for all students (NYU is stingy to everybody lol).

hey guys, i applied to nyu stern ed1, too! Everyone- including my gc- tells me that stern is crazy hard to get into but somehow i always manage to see people with 3.5-3.6 gpas that get in every year… do they normally accept those people? (I happen to be one of those people T.T)

I have a 2230 sat and 3.55 gpa, but this year i have a solid 3.9 or so… im actually trying… i have a lot of competitions, rewards, ecs in general and a pretty nice essay… do you guys think ill at least get waitlisted??

BTW when are decisions coming out?? im so nervous

@COLLEGE1357911 You should know that by now! December 15th. And yes, the admissions process is holistic so you do have a chance. It also depends on your class rigor. If you’ve taken 15 APs by the time you graduate and have a 3.5, you’re still impressive. If you’ve taken straight college prep your entire HS career and have a 3.5 - don’t expect anything from Stern.

@ferrarivettel, it is just my speculation with some information from the past years. I think NYU have decision for every ED applicants already; they need more time to figure out the FA for these ones requiring more fund, not necessary the merit scholarship thought.

So I don’t think the next wave will ever happen now (it will happen, but we can’t see it). So you can’t know now if you’ll get the change. And then, many who missed today’s little party at 11am-ish will be left wondering if they ever had a change or not.

NYU is keeping the hope alive for all of us. Which is a good thing I guess.

Guys here’s an update - I’m being by recruited by a coach to play my sport NYU and she genuinely promised that she’d call me as soon as she had any idea about my acceptance or deferral - I guess she can tell how nervous I am LOL. Got the temporary FA change and she hasn’t called, and she’s usually super on top of getting in touch with me. So maybe the FA change didnt mean anything after all?

@Collegegal06 Maybe.

Or maybe she doesn’t have any idea also. Remember that the admission process is a long, exhausting process. I’m not sure if the Admission Staff even had time to notify the coaches of admission decisions.

I was right, having the FA Change didn’t make me feel any more comfortable. Perhaps even more anxious than before.

My FA change disappeared also!
Now says award access not available.
Was the previous just a sneak peak? lol

@Collegegal06, yes your coach will help you to get into NYU (behind scene). It is not right for her to tell you the decision prematurely. She will so it when she is authorized.

although i have not received the change, and am totally distraught, i DO think it means something. if your read all of the old threads, the evidence is there that there is certainly a correlation. that being said, i don’t have the energy to go back and look to see when/if there is a final wave. i seem to recall (perhaps it is wishful thinking) that maybe there was one closer to admission? does anyone recall that? i could use some good vibes…am feeling really, really low right now as nyu is all i want in the world. i applied CAS w/no CSS. From Pennsylvania. Stats decent and ECs all w/in the expected. anyone? now that we are thinking maybe it’s ‘fixed/hidden from view’ i think i’m even more nervous. thanks for anything positive.

@NYUFan101 …any recollections about my comment above? i think you mentioned you got yours in this past wave, right?
