They may or may not admit you. It is only at the point they give you an offer, and that you accept it and enrol, that the i20 issuance becomes their “duty”. It is totally not their fault that an international student that started at another college has visa renewal problems caused by a pandemic.

- You basically admitted to being rude to them.
- You mentioned in previous replies that you called them to get dates for admissions decisions.) They are aware of the COVID situation and international students - pressure on the admissions reps ain’t gonna help speed the process because they don’t get to decide who enters the school.
I attended NYU as a visiting student, have had several conversations/meetings with admissions reps and undergraduate counselors as part of the visiting student program. They all say the same thing. Continuously asking when decisions are going to be made isn’t helpful.

I said “maybe I came off rude” but I did not “harass” them. That was not my intention. ?
How do you know that they’re aware of the “international students” if the lady did not say anything about what I said and kept saying that the admissions decisions are on rolling basis?

Hi,
Just gonna throw this out here (again)…I don’t know how old some of you are, but you all sound really young (20s) and very anxious/aggravated which is understandable.
As an older member (31), I have to say, reading half of the responses on here (asking for Zoom status meanings, check marks on applications etc) in addition to basically HARASSING the admissions office at NYU - it’s just not okay.
They said from the get-go that it would take until mid-June to receive decisions, constantly bombarding them with the same questions that we already know answers to isn’t going to speed up the process AT ALL. Rolling admissions processes typically take this long to sort through, especially during a time like this! And for some of you all who are not aware of the protests/riots in NYC - it’s also detrimental to workflow as well.
Lastly, for those on F-1 or I20 Visas, it is not the schools duty to renew them and you cannot hold a prospective school accountable for a visa expiry when you all were well aware of the expiry date. Having other options is SUGGESTED, please do not penalize a school because you were solely relying on renewals based on a rolling decision. That should be well THOUGHT OUT IN ADVANCE. I’m speaking as a former student, I am speaking as someone who has worked at a private university in LA.
Putting blame on NYU because of a situation that is out of their control is not helpful to them, not helpful to us who are following these threads. Stop calling them, stop complaining that they are taking forever to decide. Either be patient or accept another offer.
As someone who is turning 25 this year, I can tell you that I am NOT holding the school accountable. I’m trying to explain to them that it is NOT our fault that WE the international students ARE STUCK in this country due to CORONA VIRUS. We can’t go back to our country because if we do WE WON’T BE ABLE TO COME BACK DUE TO COVID-19.
I am trying to let them know how it is affecting US the Students who are NOT from here.Second off all I am not harassing nobody. I’m just stating facts. It is indeed the schools duty to renew the i-20. The “I-20” document is FROM THE SCHOOL. Not from the ambassy or whatever.
Thank you. ?

I didn’t say that it is their fault. But eventually if I get accepted they will have to issue an I-20. That’s why I stated that I need to fix my I-20 and me not having a decisions yet is delaying that process. ?

Hello? Application fee?
Highly DOUBT application fees are enough to cover the wages of admissions representatives.
Guys, honestly the only thing you can do is wait. You’ll can speculate all about this zoom status, and member student and member affiliate and late decisions, but it’s not going to help in any way other than make you more anxious. Admissions already has way too much pressure on them, maybe because of COVID. You never know what they might be going through. Go and check last year’s thread, people were still receiving decisions as late as June 15th, so there’s no point in assuming and holding NYU responsible for “late” decisions.
Again, let me put it out there, zoom status does not mean anything, people have been accepted without any changes in zoom. Neither does your housing ID showing up mean anything. Don’t check your portal everyday, just check your email. Give those people at admissions some space. The less we trouble them, the more space they will have to work on applications.

Agree. Maybe pays some for the students who answer the phone, but not the committee doing all the reviewing. Plus some not insignificant portion of applicants get the application fee waived.

Yeah but we paid them to review our application w call support whenever needed.
If that wasn’t enough then NYU should have charged us more.
Also, if they don’t like it then they should have gotten a better job.
Then I think. Quite frankly, it is not my concern whether it covers their wage or not.
If they don’t like taking phone calls and reading those applications, then I suggest they quit their job, because there are people out there who’d line up to get that job.
No one is forcing them to take those phone calls and read those applications. They made their decisions in their life and they just need to do their god damn job. Harder.
The people who take the phone calls are generally not the people who read the applications. And your getting angry at them doesn’t help the process, or make their jobs easier. They can’t tell you any more than what they’ve been told themselves. And rolling is rolling, with the website saying transfer decisions come out through June. It’s so weird how early in the process people here were getting upset at early notifications because they wanted longer to see what other offers they’d get before deciding. Now it’s the opposite. No matter what they do there are complaints!
+1

Mind you, I never called them or emailed them. I’m not getting angry at them. I just think that they should work harder, that’s it. They are not even commuting to work now, they are doing everything at home. They don’t have to brush teeth, take shower, all they need to do is sit in front of their computer and get to work! I got my decision long time ago, you actually thought that I called them or something like that? No! I just think that they should work harder as slaves of capitalism. That’s it. You don’t know anything so don’t act like you do.
Indeed, no matter what they do there are complaints, and they are being paid, so they better work harder UNTIL there will be no complaints whatsoever. Is it so hard for you to understand?

how do you figure it’s rolling? i submitted before my friend and he got an acceptance already. how do you explain that …
Rolling admissions does not necessarily mean first come first served, it means they don’t have a specific “decision day” (as is the case with ED and RD) and decisions get released as and when they are made. This could be school by school or stronger applicants first, or both.
- It’s 100% a school duty to renew an international student’s visa.
- It’s a forum. EVERYONE can speak their mind. If some of the responses trigger your mental health, “as the older person” you know what’s best for you. Therefore, go ahead and do it.
All I-20 documents expire on May 20th, and the government gives us, international students, a space of 60 days to commit to a school knowing all college decisions are released prior to July 20th as it takes time to process governmental documents in renewing the F-1 student visa.
So let’s do the math here.
The longer a school takes to release your decision, the higher the risk in not obtaining a renewed student visa, which will result in losing your visa and getting sent back home after years of hard work.
Also as @larosa2 mentioned, I have been accepted to USC & USD, but I’m still waiting to see my chances at NYU because it’s my dream school. So, my I-20 remains at risk ?
So don’t blame any international students for being extra anxious, because unlike you all, we will get sent back home.
Bless ??
