yeah i know your being honest i appreciate it actually. so thank you for that. i would rather you tell me the truth then get my hopes up lol

To the questions about the film summer programs helping admission-
They told us that it technically is not suppose to help you because that wouldn’t be fair but the idea is that people who are accepted and attend the summer program usually are very good candidates for admission into the school, and it’s also an awesome addition to a resume and shows a lot of interest (I’m assuming this holds true for other schools’ summer programs as well)

NYU has no “boys” and “girls”…

btw: TOMORROW…nbd

Yeah I’m freaking out

omg its TOMORROW, not a day number anymore. Its an entire WORD!! AHHHHHH

22:45. No one is posting. I guess its the calm before the storm :D

I’m having serious doubts. It just hit me…there is no way that I’m getting in. It’s just not logical. Why would I be the one with the low grades who gets in? This sucks.

Gotta have positive thoughts bro

hello! sorry i’m so late to join this thread. but i’ve applied ed to film too! i’m pretty much peeing my pants i’m so nervous. nbd.

Do you guys think that Tisch actually takes a thorough look at all applicants and portfolios, or do you think its as big as crapshoot as some Ivys

oh i agree with that 100%. it is a lot like the ivy leagues…

I genuinely think that Tisch, and every school, thoroughly considers all their applicants. The problem with the ivys is that kids are so similar, i think. The schools want a big mix of kids, so the people they pick may not be who you expected to get in (as the school doesnt want every kid to be the typical ivy kid). I think here, it is different; every kid is very different. Look at our applications on the first page or so. Tisch is similar to the ivys in it’s prestige among film programs, selectivity, and subjectivity in applicant acceptance, but the applicant pool and mentality are very different.

hah except more expensive than some. how do you guys plan to pay if you get in?

No idea. First thing is to see how much I get in aid.

Yeah, i didnt apply for financial aid, do you guys think that makes any difference in the admissions process?

i didnt apply for financial aid either

It doesnt make a difference, NYU says over and over again that they are need-blind, and they dont calculate financial aid until after their class is selected.

They say that they’re need blind, so do most schools. But, why is NYU the only school out of the 8 that I applied Early/Rolling to that asked for family financial info before notifications were made? Every other schools has the regular FAFSA deadline. Even if I’m thinking too much into it, school’s can guess whether or not your family has money based on where you live, and that will always be in the back of their minds when deciding.

Keep in mind, NYU isnt like Penn where they say that they meet the full need of every student…NYU says they do their best with whats available, and they usually come close. In other words, It doesnt make a difference to them how many kids they have requiring aid, they just distribute what they have amongst whoever needs. It isnt like more needed aid=less profit.
