NYU Transfer Fall 2021

has anyone received any like rejection letters yet? cuz what if may is like only acceptances?

I asked them, and they said it is definitely strongly recommended that you complete all prerequisites (Calc I or higher, and two semester of English) before transferring since a lot of Stern courses require Calc I or higher as a prerequisite. But I also heard that it’s not a dealbreaker, especially if you have a legitimate reason as to why you were not able to complete them all. But receiving A’s regardless of it being a prerequisite or not is always good.

wow really??? Well your checklists disappeared though right?

Thank you so much!! I actually did calc i am missing statistics idk how i missed that one on the website. But im going to take it in the summer

I don’t think May is only acceptances cause in previous years, people have gotten rejected as well throughout May.

Stat is only required if you’re a junior transfer. If you’re a sophomore level transfer, it says on their website right here that "If you wish to transfer into the sophomore year at Stern, you should have completed the following at your current institution:

  • Calculus I or higher
  • Writing/Composition (1-2 semesters)

and then for junior transfers it’s "If you wish to transfer into the junior year at Stern, you should have completed following at your current institution:

  • Calculus I or higher
    • Classes for non-math majors do not satisfy this requirement
    • You may use a score of 4 or 5 on AP BC Calculus, a 6 or 7 on a higher-level IB Math, or an A or B in GCE A-level math to satisfy this requirement
  • Writing/Composition (1-2 semesters)
  • Introductory-level Microeconomics
    • Blended, one-semester microeconomics-macroeconomics courses are not sufficient
  • Statistics and Regression
    • Acceptance of your statistics credit would depend on passing a Stern proficiency exam after admission
  • Financial Accounting

Omg i think im screwed. I am a junior transfer and I completed all of them except for statistics :pensive:

yuppp about 2 weeks ago

No no no do not worry. Again, it’s “required” and “recommended” that you complete them, but I assure you that if there’s a reason why you were not able to take it, they will understand without a doubt. I don’t think any university no matter how prestigious will just allow an applicant to not be considered just because they did not compete one preqreq. I think you should maybe contact the admissions office or a representative or include some document that explains your reasons as to why you never took stat, just to be safe.

Yah so that makes sense, since applications submitted earlier will be reviewed earlier, thus leading to their checklist disappearing. In regards to decisions, who knows when they’ll be coming out even if our checklists have already disappeared a long time ago.

Omg thank you so so much this actually made me feel better! I called and told them to make a note that I will take it in the summer so i hope it makes it better

That is actually perfect that you’re taking it in the summer, so you will be fulfilling all the required courses, SO you do not have to worry a single bit, cause you are fulfilling all the requirements to transfer in as a junior transfer.

Do you think I should update that info on the prerep courses thing on my app or calling them is just fine. Because i dont want my prereq to look updated this late you know what I mean. Thank you again!!

Just called NYU admissions and they said they have all of my required info and materials and should be hearing most likely by next week and if not the next. My checklist disappeared April 27th. I hate how long this is taking

I really think you should have some physical proof that you will be doing it, cause while you did call them, who knows if they forgot or did not do it. So either update it on your prerequisite course list, or I would find some person to contact personally within the admissions team to make sure they know for sure that you’re taking the stat requirement in the summer, and make them leave a physical note on your application.

Tisch drama external applicant here, my checklist disappeared mid april. My application (at least academically) was not outstanding by any means. 2.6 gpa overall, but close to a 3.6 for my major. That being said, my audition could have been strong, but I am fairly convinced that the checklist disappears just to let you know that they’ve received all of your information.

I saw someone get accepted last friday

just called the ao and was told i should here by the end of the month. not sure if it’s a good sign

I called and they told me the same thing. What major did u apply to
