For the external transfers did you guys get your financial aid and scholarships package? If so how bad/good is it??? I am wondering bc I did a calculation on the Nyu website and if I was a first year I would have had to pay 8k but as a transfer I need to pay 55k and so I was wondering how accurate it is.
NYU doesn’t give the best financial aid to transfers
Congrats! I’m also a cc student in California. If you don’t mind, which major did you apply to? Are you a first or second year transfer applicant?
It is the worst financial aid package I have ever received. My EFC is around $100 and other circumstances are very bad as well (dealing with being homeless, no savings, assets and parents earning in a very unstable currency etc) and besides FAFSA I had nothing. So 71K per year. I come from RISD which is also not famous for its financial aid, but after my fafsa and css, they met my full need. Nyu is very bad with transfer financial aid.
So other than a lucky few is NYU all students with money?
I’m so sad to hear about this. You should definitely appeal for more aid if NYU is where you want to go most! There’s absolutely no reason for them to expect you to pay that much given your circumstance.
It looks like a lot of people had checklists disappear a week ago from today. Hopefully, that means some possible decisions today! Fingers crossed!!
Nah its okay NYU was my third choice and Ive already gotten accepted to my 2nd choice. (Fingers crossed for USC haha)
NYU announced that this year they would not be offering ANY financial aid to transfer students. You get what you get from federal grants and that’s it.
Edit:
There are a few exceptions, per the website:
-
We are only able to offer institutional aid to transfer students who are admitted through one of the following programs:
- Community College Transportation Opportunity Program
- Second Degree Transfer Program in Rory Meyers College of Nursing (Accelerated and Non-Accelerated)
- Gallatin Undergraduate Initiative for Discovery in Education
- CAS Pipeline Opportunities for Inter-Collegiate STEM Education
It’s unfortunate but a lot of universities took a huge financial hit with Covid and the FA coffers were depleted by FA given to freshman.
Any changes guys?
Yes, same for my daughter!
Little bit too early for that, but we’ll see probably around 2.
Yeah it is early
So we’re thinking around 2 for decisions? is that based off earlier rounds or historically? i need to know when to be my most anxious haha. i was waitlisted last year and i’ve improved my app since then so as y’all can imagine i’m freaking out a wee bit
The people who have received a decision in the past week got an email at 2:10 notifying them of a portal update
neat, thanks!
can someone add me to the reddit thread. my reddit name is Fair_Yam_8665. Thank you!
Are results expected to come out today? I thought it was only fridays
Where did they announce they won’t be offering any aid? I saw this girl on youtube who applied to Tisch as a transfer and she got in. She applied during Covid too. She got some scholarship and she’s out of state.
