NYU waitlist 2024 (class 2028)

Do you also think they’ll give out more financial aid packages than usual to persuade students to go to nyu?

In past years… it seems that the first waves off the WL offered very little/no FA to the WL. Then the later waves they did offer decent FA. Maybe they get an idea of the number of full pays…which can then subsidize the FA offers to other students on the WL. (this is 100% conjecture…based on past threads). I saw very little FA in the early waves, but then lots of scholarship near the tail end of the WL offers, ie may 19/20th.

It seems like a reasonable method. This is just conjecture from reading past threads and making the connection! It did seem like NYU offered decent FA to WL, but that those offers came in later waves.

saw a post on reddit asking a similar question but about columbia, and someone who is in an admitted students’ gc replied that although people were concerned about the protests people aren’t withdrawing

I think they will accept more people from the WL but not because of the protests. A lot of people are saying that NYU under-enrolled their class on purpose to look more selective as datasets only display the number of admitted students( excluding the waitlist admits). Hence they will be using the waitlist to fill up the rest of the spots.

ohhh well this is better for us since they’ll probably need more wl students to fill up their class right?

Yea I hope. Could be a potential reason on why they never release their waitlist stats.

i mean it’s kinda different this year right? because of their new NYU Promise
so for some students they have to give cover their full tuition.

I could see this being a possibility and I actually think it’s because of the email we received earlier last week. In the past cycles, no one has received this type of email from NYU. This might be a stretch but, this email was fancy. When I saw it, it struck me as very colorful. In past years, emails relating to the waitlist were bland and cold. But, this one caught your attention really well. Again, this is probably just a stupid stretch, but I think they are gonna let more people off the waitlist because I think that email was purposefully getting the attention of waitlist students because a lot of kids will be getting off the list. I don’t know, definitely a stretch but at this point it doesn’t matter lol.

It is almost time…

1 LSC
2 SPS (1 Hospitality) (1 RE)
3 Gallatin
6 Tandon (1 CS) (1 Math) (1Chem) (1Mechanical)(1Civil)(1 undisclosed)
5 Steinhardt (2 Nutrition) (1 Music ) (1 Media) (1 Art)
5 Stern

18 CAS (1 Data Science) (1cs) (1 Math) (2 Econ) (2 Poli Sci) (1 English) (3 Bio) (2 undisclosed) (1 pub pol)(1 neuro)(1 psych)(2 global)

Total= 50

I don’t think this is a stretch at all! I thought the same thing when I saw it. The fact they showed ways students could learn more about NYU says a lot.

Lol I thought this was all the ones YOU applied to lmaoo

What if I told them I wanna do to a different major in the waitlist form? I got waitlisted for NYU’s ED1 Ecnomics&Mathematics (BA, CAS), but I on the waitlist form I said International Relations (BA, CAS) is my top major. So are they going to assess me for Economics&Mathematics or International Relations (or that doesn’t mater)?

Anyone know if you can update the form after the deadline?

When does the first wave start?

Could be as early as Friday but it’s hard to say tbh.

Not really. Some people didn’t recieve any aid at all even though they were qualified for NYU promise or they received very little aid (7-10k). The NYU promise also requires a student to have ‘typical’ assets so not everyone who meets the income criteria can get aid.

Just found this thread so I’m late to the party, but I was WL’d at TISCH for film

I heard last year most people who got off the waitlist did not apply for aid :frowning:

I really hope this isn’t the case for this year
