Hasn’t started in Cap. district yet. I need to put a pot of coffee on for tomorrow morning too, even if I have to drink it iced.

Well, so much for the pavement being warm so it won’t stick…it’s sticking, and it’s slick. So far we have three inches here in SE PA. I have snow on my banana plants. That’s a first.

Skeptic that I am, I thought the predictions were a little over the top. Wrong.

Lots of heavily damaged trees, power out at MIL (gosh, I hope this doesn’t mean I will have to take her in, although I do love her).

I am in my glory despite the bad stuff. A pot of Indian Lentil Soup on the stove, an early glass of wine, it’s all good.

DD is running at the NIRCA cross country regionals in Philly today…should be interesting.

Just started in Southern NH. Mix of rain and snow but the flakes are big. If it’s the wet, slippery type, then it will probably be messy. I have to take a short trip tonight which I’m not looking forward to.

On generator power here in NJ; apparently hundreds of thousands without power…

That was very fast.

^^ tons of trees down on power lines apparently and high winds didn’t help…

Had a crazy idea that we’d drive about 15 miles over to S’s school & drop off his boots. H is always up for a 4WD snow-driving adventure…this time got about 4 miles and even he said NO WAY. Really, really bad driving (on top of the fact that it hasn’t been plowed ANYWHERE) along with limbs/trees/wires down along the way. We turned around and came home.

I’m putting on my jammies and making a cup of tea now - stay safe & warm everyone!

Just measured…we have over 7 inches. Trees are sagging and lights flickering. I made a hot pot of coffee and put it into a 12 hour carafe (that really DOES keep the coffee hot). Boiled water and put it into a thermos for DH to make tea…and oatmeal. Filled the tub with water. My gut feeling is we are going to either lose power or the power company is going to turn us off (which usually happens) while they fix other problems.

Oh…and turned the heat up too. That way if we don’t have heat, the house will be warmer a little longer.

Heavy dusting in the MD burbs of DC, not sticking to roads…DH is thankful he doesn’t have to mow the grass this weekend.
Tomorrow am is the Marine Corps Marathon – bring your snowboots!!

thumper1 - that is amazing. I haven’t talked to D1 or my parents yet. I wonder what it is like in central NJ.

We have one inch on the ground. I cleared off the car - heavy, wet, yuck.

Snow and sleet alternating all day here in MD since I woke up this morning. Slushy, cold and dreary but luckily not accumulating on trees in my area. Glad for that!

We’ve been having a wonderful pajama day. The kids carved their pumpkins and I baked two kinds of cookies: a cast-iron skillet chocolate chip (new recipe) and chocolate crinkle cookies, which are S1’s favorite.

Assuming the roads remain clear, we are heading out to the big annual Halloween shindig.

Stay safe everyone, please. Those of you north and west of me will be in my thoughts. Check in when you can.

In northern Jersey, we must have aboaut 6 inches. Trees down all over. Lines down everywhere. Horrible driving conditions. I was out for something that should have been cancelled, and it finally was. Took the person driving me almost an hour to get to my house from the next town over. Never seen anything like this in October before.

recipe please?

^ Garland- wow! Friends in PA didn’t report it THAT bad!!!
All rain down here in South Jersey.

Garland: any response from JCP&L on your end yet?

Headline news - 580.000 without power in several states, mostly PA- 420.000 without! UGH!

Lights still blinking here…my husband says he figures it’s some tree branch bouncing on a power line. My guess is eventually the lights will just go out.
