Official 2011 AP Chemistry Thread

I was like," WHERE IS A FREAKING KSP PROBLEM??" My teacher seemed 100% positive there would be ksp, some acid base, and electrochemistry.

hey im new here. i was just wondering… can we discuss FRQs yet or no? our teachers should be getting the green booklets with all the frqs in them in several days anyways, no?

and to answer the question posted before, equilibrium is always the first frq. so even though it might not have been ksp on yours it was some form of k.

wow multiple choice was not bad at all but then the free response questions were like ridiculous…i ran out of time for the 1st part and had to rush on my 2nd part and finish the first part wihtout a calculator…my whole class was getting fives on practices exams and everyone said that it was the hardest free response they ever taken so i bet there will be a good curve

I hope all of you (nationwide) did bad; we all get a 4 or a 5 if we all do bad >:]

the multiple choice was definitely doable as was the free response. which actually kind of scares me because despite getting A’s both semesters in the class, i am definitely not the strongest AP chem student and the material did not come all that easy to me to begin with.

the good thing on the free response is that i had knowledge in every single one of the questions asked. so even if i did not know everything fully, i was able to get some sort of points on each. just curious… what kinds of tests did you guys have all year long if you took AP chem at school? my AP teacher would give us a battery of free response questions like the hardest one’s she could find so im thinking that that’s why i didnt find the frqs to be insanely hard.

the free response was …

my teacher gave us a pack of free response from collegeboard after every unit also. i still found the test hard :frowning: hopefully i’m underestimating the power of the curve

Yeah…I really hope everyone did as badly as I think I did. (And I was prepared!)

^ Same! Studied for a month!

I did most of the long/Essay problems in PR 2011 and the FRQ for 2010, 2009, 2008. MC for 1999 and 2008. I think we all know which FRQ were a little obscure.

Everyone in my class did poorly

I actually thought it was pretty easy… now for calculus ughhhh.

G0DZILLA: Which one do you think was obscure? All of them seemed pretty straightforward. You had to carefully read though.

chances are if a sizable amount of us cc users had problems with the frq section, the silent majority of non cc users would have had even bigger issues. lets hope for a nice curve :)

MC was not bad imo.

FR… now there’s a different story. Part 1 was bloodshed, part 2 was better.

Hoping for a 4, definitely at least a 3.

And everyone in my school thought it was mad hard…

Everyone in my class did horrible we probably all got ones or twos

well my teacher gave us impossible free responses all year and he failed many people…we studied for hours for like 3 weeks we did every part 2 in the past 10 years so i felt prepared for part 2 and found it veryyyy hard so i am very dissapointed…such a waste of studying!

My AP teacher said that, in general, his past students have said that they have had time to check their answers during the FRQs. No one I talked to after the exam today said that was true for them. Part A was terrible, and I had two blanks (One on Q1 and one on the last Q). I finished Part B with about 2 mins to spare. The FRQs were definitely harder than any of the past exams I’ve seen. Let’s all hope for a nice curve.

The MC was fine for me, but I generally do well on those. I hope that’s what will save me.

When will we be allowed to discuss the questions?

You’re allowed to discuss the specifics of the FRQs 48 hours after you take the exam on the normal testing day. My proctor said that the green insert will be sent to your school and your teacher will probably go over it (at least, that’s the way it is with my school).

The MC is not allowed to be discussed until the entire MC section is released.

If you take the exam after the usual testing day, your FRQs aren’t allowed to be discussed. Ever.
