Sorry for everyone who didn’t make semifinals. It was a very competitive year. I can’t look yet because Twitter is blocked at my school. I have to wait until 2 a clock.

Hopefully this link to the list of semifinalists works.

<a href=“Siemens Foundation - About us - USA”>http://www.siemens-foundation.org/en/index/siemenscompetition/2014Semifinalists.htm

It did work (Thanks!). I didn’t make semifinals either though.

Last year regional finalists were listed separately from semifinalists. So I think people still have a chance, but I don’t know if they changed that policy or not

Last year, I think they released the lists of regional finalists and semifinalists on the same day, though.

Their earlier email said
Regional Finalists will be announced at 2pm EST on Monday, October 20th. Again, you will see who they are EARLY if you follow the Siemens Foundation on Twitter or Facebook.

Not sure if its going to be a separate list or from this list itself.

If anyone wants to count there should probably be around 500 people on the semifinalist list
(150 individual + 150*2.5 (?)

Parent here. Not an expert, but one crude way (to confirm whether the Finalists are from this list OR new list) is to count the #s in this list and see whether it matches with the expected #s. I am not sure whether anyone knows on the “Expected #s”. Just a thought, if this can help. Keep the hopes alive. You all will do great.

Another thought. I have not seen anywhere saying “Finalists” are also called as “Semifinalists”, unless u had seen it some where. If we follow that logic, then “Finalist” likely to be from a diff pool of list.

I counted 406 semifinalists on the list.

If there are only 406 on the list there is probably a separate list for regional finalists

^ Who knows, maybe we did make something. But I doubt my paper was the quality of a regional finalist though.

They didn’t post the finalists on the semifinalists list last year, so maybe they’d do the same this year.

For last year, I counted 334 semifinalists and 100 regional finalists.

I’m thinking they draw the regional finalists from the semifinalist pool. If they already had the list of regional finalists, then they would just release it today. I think they determined the semifinalists last weekend and are using this weekend to determine the regional finalists.

From the Siemens judging criteria:

“Up to 300 outstanding projects are selected as finalists. From those 300 projects, up to 60 will advance to the Regional Finalist stage of the Competition and the others will be honored as Semifinalists. Students chosen as Semifinalists may have their names publicly announced, including having their names posted on the Siemens Foundation website and on the Competition website.”

The winners of Siemens last year aren’t listed on the semifinalist list for that year. I think they at least drew finalists separately last year, but I don’t know about this year.

Darn, I just got an e-mail stating that I was not selected as a semifinalist or regional finalist.

Lol same here.

Yeah same… Does anyone know any other science competitions that we can go for? The results have to come out pretty early though cuz I’m a senior. Some competition results aren’t wnnounced till April so that definitely doesn’t work out.
