**OFFICIAL CAL POLY SLO CLASS of 2019 Regular Decision** Thread

I posted before but just for reference- I checked my portal on Monday and saw that I got into comp sci then but just got the email today ~8PM.

@blueskies2day, I wonder why parents are so obsessed with examining every little detail of acceptance and how a college rolls out acceptances. Wondering about me as a student having a comment about parent is just strange on a student forum is more out of place. From a student’s perspective, what work we have done to get here is done. Why whip it into such obsession. I just don’t see it on my other college forums. Please let your kids have their moment.

Congrats on your admission!! And thank you as well. I haven’t lost hope, I am optimistic for the few coming weeks, nothing is certain yet:) @calpoly13‌

I dont get it… does anyone know how exactly SLO is releasing their admissions. There have been people at my school who got in already but have much lower stats than I do. Even people for engineering who have lower stats than me have gotten in… I dont get why I havent yet…
My stats:
2200 SAT, 2230 Superscore
3.75 uw, 4.21 w GPA
Electrical Engineering major

@intrinsic2, hope you make your way to Cal Poly, dude. refreshing. many kids come in over managed.

Anyone heard from School of Ag / Env Science?? - Food Science??

@SantaClarita‌ I heard from the college of Ag for Animal Science on tuesday…also, has anyone heard anything for computer engineering? My friend applied and I’m just not sure if anyone has heard back yet for that major.

Thanks - and congrats on your acceptance. Still holding out hope for Ag - Food Science

@SantaClarita‌ they haven’t released all of the decisions yet! You very well may have gotten in

Thank you :-* really want to get in, tough when others have heard already -

Parents are on here to be helpful, I actually don’t think they are obsessing like you may think. We have empathy for people whether other parents or students and try to use what we have learned (something you students will do someday), we aren’t just concerned with ourselves. I actually agree with what someone mentioned, kids are over-managed!

Accepted today Nutrition Science it was in student portal two days ago and email came tonight!! Great campus but no nursing :frowning:

Congrats on your acceptance, I know Nutrition Science and Food Science are in similar dept. Still hoping there is a chance for me under Food Science

I apologize if this is a student message board. I was allowed to sign up as a parent, and I did not notice anything that would indicate student only. In regards to obsessing, I guess when a parent starts socking away hard earned money towards a two year old’s future college, it does mean something to that parent which colleges accept their child. We do our best to instill the value of education for our children, and so it is natural to care where they attend college. We are paying for a large portion of our sons’ educations, so we are truly “invested” financially too.

The main reason I am obsessing is that we have set up a trip to visit in April. While kids often pop in the car for the trip, parents are taking off work, finding kennels, booking hotels, etc. We don’t want to prevent another family from booking our hotel and taking our tour of the dorms if our son was not accepted. There are several other big logistical considerations as well.

My apologies if you feel parents are hijacking your message board. We love and care about our kids and only want the best for them.

Just received the e-mail notification today.

^^ Same. Accepted Tuesday, received email notification today at around 7:30 PM pacific time

Same for my D…accepted Tues and email came tonight

Good to know - seems as if most are hearing or have heard other posts mention after this week the wait list comes out March 1-2 any truth to that if I haven’t heard as of yet - Dept of Ag Food Science?

@MilitaryFamily‌, if you knew my family’s financial situation you would know there is no need to explain how parents contribute and sacrifice to help pay for college and take time off and everything. Wasn’t really my point. I made goals. I achieved them as best I could. My parents looked at my list. And gave advice. The rest is up to admissions officers. The tone of comments by often parents is not very welcoming. Most comments by student seem normal, I guess. Just suggested that the parent forum may be the thing parent would be looking for. Parents watching a game vs slamming and dissecting the coaches every move. Let your kids enjoy the game.
