I’m afraid I have to agree with @Bawlmer- the only reason SLO appears “transparent” is that students/parents are posting stats on this forum and raising questions about seeming inconsistencies in the admissions process.
Wait listed for biochem
I got in for Biomedical Engineering!
“Congratulations! You are receiving this message because you are being offered conditional admission to Cal Poly for the 2015 Fall Quarter to the Biomedical Engineering major in the College of Architecture & Environmental Design.”
CC transfer, 3.48 GPA (3.9ish upward trend over last two years).
Cal Poly is one of the best schools in the country for many of their majors. Just go to COLLEGE FACTUAL and look for yourself. Their Engineering program is ranked 21 in the country. Getting into the science related majors and Engineering majors is more difficult than most of the UCs if not all. Go look at how competitive their admissions are. Here is a helpful link for those who underestimate SLO.

And on the pdf:
FTF means - First Time Freshmen
NTR means - New Transfers
How many people got in from their waitlist last year?
Is it safe to assume that anyone who hasn’t received an acceptance thus far is rejected? (or wait-listed)
Applied as an Economics major, no determination has been made : (
3.75 CSU GPA
1320 SAT (640CR 680Math)
21+ EC and Leadership
6 AP’s and honors
so basically if it still states “no determination” you most likely didn’t get in?
I guess I don’t feel so bad for my D if over 1900 applied for BME and only 75 are likely to be accepted. She will find her niche somewhere else…though I still think this acceptance process bites!!!
I am thinking the same thing - mine shows no determination still… I am assuming if I was wait listed I would have heard by now…
Just to clarify - the chart that @CalPolyCouple linked shows for BME, 1024 FTF apps and 75 FTF target but doesn’t this mean that more students were actually accepted? If the yield is approx. 33%, then 3 times as many were accepted. Just trying to understand it all…
@mom2ab, I think it is 1924 and not 1024 for BME. For 2014 projections is seems that they were only accepting 75 Freshman applicants.
It also seems that in 2013 the target for Freshman was 68 and the actual was 82. They accepted more than they targeted…who knows what this means for this year…
Yes, I meant to type 1924. But the target is not the number accepted, it’s the number they are anticipating will actually enroll? So if we know the typical yield, then we can determine the number of acceptances.
Does that 1924 include both freshman and transfers?
I guess so…roger, over and out for CP. Congrats to all those accepted and good luck on other schools to those whom CP did not choose.
This is so upsetting honestly, still no decision… I just don’t understand how ppl with lower stats than me got in for Electrical Engineering… why can’t SLO just release all on the same day??
@siroucity - the 1924 estimate was just freshman.
I agree - wish SLO just released all on same day and was done with it! At least you would know either way!
College Confidential really is a horrendous site in times like these. I can 100% guarantee that SLO is still admitting so don’t give up, or get too anxious about it.
Just got admitted today for biochem. I wasn’t concerned because my stats far exceed many kids here, and if that is true for you, then take a chill pill.
The overall yield for CP is around 33% historically. What isn’t known (to me at least) is whether or not that yield holds across all majors. Since it isn’t known, I use 33% as the best guess for all majors. That would make the the acceptance rate for BME (3x75)/1924 x 100 = 11.7%.
