**OFFICIAL CAL POLY SLO CLASS of 2020 Regular Decision** Thread

Son accepted to Env Management and Protection. In state. Took a long time to get the portal password sorted out, so may have gotten the word a few days ago but just got into the site today.

Son in state ME 3.9 35 ACT MCA 4613. No decision so guessing not admitted

In 2015 and 2014, acceptances were still being posted until the end of February along with waitlisted applicants, so do not give up just yet…

@SCVPilot Mind posting his stats? Still waiting to hear back! Congratulations though.

Didn’t get an email, but I checked my portal and saw the acceptance.

@Gumbymom were those acceptances by random colleges (because I’m not sure if college of engineering has finished giving all the acceptances yet)?

For my Env Mgt and Prot son, GPA was 4.25, ACT was 29, usual activities and ECs, son of a veteran (me).

@sourfeature: The acceptances posted near the end of Feb last year were from various colleges: Business, Engineering and Liberal Arts, I believe. A mix of different majors trickling in over a 2 week period. Waitlisted applicants were notified around the end of February to early March and finally rejections posted around the same time. SLO seems to be doing acceptances different this year from previous years especially for in-state. You would think it is all computer based (same complaint as previous years) they could send out all the acceptances at once like most of the UC’s.

The only reason I am following the thread this year is that my nephew wants to apply for Fall 2017 and I am arming myself with as much information as possible to help him.

Cal state long beach or pomona @flaminhaute? Cal poly>Cal state is my feeling

Seems engineering is still coming in but the rest have sort of peeterd out

My very smart friends who would be “obvious admits” haven’t heard back yet which is so odd to me. I’ve seen a lot of people with lower stats accepted already, which has us all worried :frowning:

@mariplusplus I forgot to congratulate you earlier, I’m so happy for you!!

@Baylorpoly I’m not sure yet, I was hoping to get into Cal Poly so I halted my research on Long Beach and Pomona, but now that things aren’t looking too good I’m going to start up again, for now I’m thinking CPP because it seems to have a better environment for students and less disconnect (LB is lovely but seems like a little country, waaay too many students and far too spread out for my liking).

CPP was originally my top choice and right now it’s probably where I’ll end up… unless I get into Davis or SB which probably won’t happen lol. I hope your son gets into Cal Poly or has a great time at Baylor/wherever he ends up!

Man, might have to accept I get rejected. Was hoping to get in, but looks like most acceptances for in-state mechanical engineering have already been determined. :l

Glad you have other options waiting in case you need them

Anyone know if acceptances are still rolling out for the rest of the day?

My son was admitted in-state for Mechanical Engineering.

MCA 4405
SAT (CR+M) 1350
CalPoly Weighted GPA 4.0
Maxed out the extra classes bonus

He applied Early Decision and was deferred to Regular, so we didn’t expect him to get in at all. Very suprised and happy here!

@flaminhaute One thing to keep in mind is it’s all based on MCA scores so a student with lower stats might get a bump by exceeding minimum requirements, parents situation (vet or no hs), etc. We didn’t know about the MCA score until recently but fortunately my D had 13 semesters of science which was worth 200 points. Having a perfect GPA and perfect SATs is not enough to guarantee admission.

Does anyone know if they have released decisions for out of state food science majors?

Doesn’t look like Comp Sci has sent many (if any) decisions yet… Fingers crossed!

@CollegeMama987 that is very true. My MCA is about 4222 (GrC) my two friends have MCAs of ~4700 and applied for BME and Biochem, and Cal Poly was their safety school.
