Has any one who was deferred heard back yet? because I know last year some people were deferred and heard back again as soon as 1 week after being deferred

Anyone know when we’re supposed to hear about scholarship money? My friends who go there said they were notified of small merit scholarships with their acceptance letter in the mail. Mine just came but there was no information about any scholarships. Could that just be because I didn’t get anything? Anyone who got their snail letter mail hear back about scholarships? Thanks in advance!

skopins, Michigan hands out very few scholarships. I would estimate that only 5%-10% of the student body receives such a distinction. The typical profile for students who receive merit awards are those the University feels will get acceptances from Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Stanford or Yale and who will require the extra incentive to come to Michigan. Unless one comes from an usually background (URM, lower income etc…), generally speaking, most candidates are 4.0 students (3.7+ in schools that have exceptionally rigorous curricula) with 2250+/34+ on the SAT/ACT and extremely strong ECs, and even among those students, only some will receive scholarships.

I would not count on receiving a scholarship, even if you have extremely strong credentials.

i dont believe anyone has heard back yet @mets25 and i’d assume the soonest would be after break… their office is closed until the 3rd.

I received a letter last week (a couple of days after my acceptance letter) saying I’ve been awarded the Regents Merit Scholarship, which I believe is for Michigan residents only (which narrows the competition). It’s only $1500, but it was nevertheless a pleasant surprise.

A teacher of mine called the admissions, and a student/intern answered because the office is closed right now. She said that all applicants would be given a decision in April. I’m not sure how true this is, but I think that’s the best we can rely on at the moment.

I would like to apologize for any hard feelings i may have caused by bringing up the “good” vs “bad” deferral letter. I was given wrong information and I went overboard with it to compensate for the hard feelings of my own deferral, so i sincerely apologize to you all.

btw… there is no good or bad deferral letter.

^^ lol
