The UM page on collegeboard says that the admit rate is 51%. Although I’m not sure when the stats were updated last.

The college board data is from two years ago. I think it was 42% last year (somewhere around 40 at least).

it was still about 48% last year. it is expected to be 30-35% this year

according to u.s. rankings for 2011, the admissions rate is 51% and umich is 28 on the list.

If we’re all lucky enough to get in, does anyone know how the roommmate process works?

Nope it was under 40% last year

All i know is that you can either choose to dorm with someone you don’t know or you can pick someone you do know. I haven’t really gotten further than that :)

The acceptance rate for the current freshman class was 39.9%. It will probably drop to about 30% this year.

oh you’re right UM32194, my bad… still not good news :/

Is it too unrealistic to hope for a system malfunction that releases all of the decisions?

^sadly yes. I hate this waiting game =[. idk if Im the only one, but i havnt heard back from anywhere yet… #frustrating #yesididjustuseahashtageventhothisisnttwitter

I’d just like to comment as a parent who is waiting with my daughter for the EA decisions to be released. Take my word for it this is one time in history that you can honestly say you have it worse than your parents. It was so much easier in the 80s you filled out your college applications and then you waited. A thick envelope was a good thing, a thin was bad. Common Apps, message boards, advance warning e-mails. This is torture. Remember this when you parents/grandparents start to complain about having it so hard back in the day.

okay so i generally do not post in these but i’m super anxious and want to hear everyone’s opinions on my potential admission.
i have a 4.05 gpa on a 4.0 scale (i’ve taken AP classes to get it over a 4) — also i calculated my GPA using the michigan formula and it is slightly above a 3.9
i have taken 5 AP classes, 4 this year and one last year.
i’m in level 5 AP french which i hear looks particularly impressive?
also i got a 30 on the ACT… i know its not incredible but standardized testing is not my forte. i got a 33 in english, 30 in reading, 29 in science and 28 in math.
i applied to LSA for fall 2012 EA
i’ve been on varsity for 2 years, and jv for freshman and soph year for rowing
i am president of 3 clubs, and have received 3 varsity letters for academic clubs
i have been doing theater since my freshman year, receiving leads as well as directing shows.
i’m a retreat leader at my church, a lector at mass and an EM. i also do community service through my church.
ive had 4 different jobs, balancing two at a time. and i am a member of national honor society and french honor society

sorrry i really hate to do this but im freaking out right now… what does everyone think?

^3.9 puts you in good shape as long as you’re in state.
Also, be proud of your 30, it’s good. I freaked out when I got a 30, and subsequently a 33. But I think GPA is much more important than ACT. I think 3.9, 30 is much better than 3.7, 33 which is what I have unfortunately :/

oh yeah… i’m out of state… :/

I think standards are a tad bit higher for OOS, but not sure how much a diff it makes. Your GPA is still impressive and your ACT is in range, so it’ll probably come down to how they view your ECs, recs and essays

The feeling that I won’t get in grows exponentially each day. :(

^same here :/

I think that all the overthinking is killing us. Can we agree to not post a single thing, and try not to check CC all day tmmrw UNLESS, of course, we either receive our decisions or the get ready email?

Best of luck to you all! I hope to see you in my hometown!
