You’re average white, smart, middle class, girl. Heard back about three weeks after applying. Haven’t gotten any scholarships from pitt yet, but maybe they’re too come. I doubt it though.

It’s been at least 5 weeks since Pitt received all of my needed application materials and essay, and 4 weeks since they received my teacher’s recommendation letter…I’m getting anxious! How long does it usually take Pitt to respond around this time of year?

My son applied in November and UPitt wanted his midterm grades. They were sent three weeks ago. Still waiting for a decision. Not sure why there is a hold up?

Hey guys I just recieved mail from upitt saying that I was invited to upitt a a day for admitted students. But the thing is I never recieved a letter saying I got accepted…hmm does this mean I got accepted??!

We were notified today after our midterm grades were sent in on 2/11. Letter dated 2/14 and received by mail 2/21. Our son was wait listed for Swanson but has instead taken an acceptance to Dietrich. He is happy with this as he is undecided on a major. It’s been a long wait!

amontg10: If you applied after Jan 15th you an ineligible for any scholarships ([University of Pittsburgh: Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid](http://www.oafa.pitt.edu/freshadm.aspx))

We were notified today after our midterm grades were sent in on 2/8. Letter dated 2/14 and received by mail 2/22. Our son was wait listed for Swanson but has instead taken an acceptance to Dietrich. He is planning to try and transfer to Swanson after his freshman year.

I applied mid october, was accepted october 27th with honors college and was only today that I received a $10,000 per year scholarship! For stats see page 3! Can’t believe I still got one on the very end of the notification period!

Alright, so I got an e-mail back saying my decision will come in 2-3 weeks. I sent my application materials mid-December…this worries me. :S

My son got his acceptance into the program he wanted today. No scholarship details was given. He has to decide now and that is more stressful. We applied in November and he had to submit his mid year grades. It certainly was a long wait.

Decision: Accepted

[] Essay:
Becoming a vegetarian at age 13, how it made me more open-minded and unafraid to challenge societal conventions.
[/ul][li] Teacher Recommendation #1: From my English teacher who has had me for AP Lang last year, and currently has me for AP Lit. I know she’s fond of my writing skills and she nominated me for the NCTE Achievement Award in Writing. It wasn’t bad, I’m guessing?[/li][] Teacher Recommendation #2: From my Spanish teacher who I had for Spanish 5 Honors and AP Spanish. I was one of only two non-native speakers in the class, and basically his only non-native speaker ever to score a 5 on the AP exam. He also nominated me for a school-wide Spanish award. Likewise, it wasn’t bad, I’m guessing?
[] Counselor Rec: Don’t know her too well, but we’ve been in correspondence lately about my National Achievement semifinalist status and Silver Knight nomination. I think she likes me, but I’m always nervous when I go visit her, haha.
[] State (if domestic applicant): Sunshine State aka FL
[] Country (if international applicant): U.S.
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: African American
[] Gender: F
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM; I was invited to a diversity program which I attended and for which Pitt reimbursed my fees.
[/li]

I think I was a pretty strong applicant. This was a safety school that I originally didn’t even have on my list, but I’m glad I applied because I received a full tuition scholarship and I’ve learned about some of the great opportunities it offers, especially after visiting! I’m still waiting on decisions from some Ivies and other top schools, but as far as finances, Pitt is the best I’ve received so far :)

Decision: ACCEPTED

SAT: 1210
SAT IIs: did not take
GPA: 3.2
Rank: School does not rank

Essays: none
Teacher Recs: none
Counselor Rec: none
Hook (if any): none
State or Country: Ohio
School Type:Private long-distance learning
Ethnicity: Black
Gender: Male

Awards: National Achievement “Outstanding Participant”
Extra-Curriculars: Tennis: played since I was eight named First-Team All-Conference freshman year (I was taken out of regular school after freshman year, and the school wouldn’t let participate in varsity sports)
Experience: I was part of the NIDDK Step-Up program last year and worked over 400 hours in a biomedical research lab. Also volunteer there during the school year for more than 40 hours.

Extra information: I orginally only applied because a Pitt Prestige Application was sent to me by the university. I don’t know why I didn’t consider it before my grandparents live in Pittsburgh, my grandfather went there, my uncle went there my dad almost went to Pitt’s med school and almost did undergrad there to, and conducted research there but opted to go to Ohio State. After learning more about the school my interest in it definitely piqued.

After I initially submitted my Pitt Prestige Application I was given a letter saying they were holding off on an admissions decision until after they saw my mid-year report. They were most likely concerned by the fact that I failed AP Chem my junior year 2nd semester. I am retaking it this year and got a 86% first semester and have a 97% 2nd semester.

How long does one wait after being accepted to hear about scholarship and FA?
