*Official Regular Decision For Northwestern University Class of 2016*

I got accepted as well

I think all decisions should definitely be up by now, but just in case there’s still any confusion - the 185r means absolutely nothing. Neither does the wording on any of the error pages. Yes, the wait was definitely excruciating, but I think Northwestern has handled this really very well for a first-time situation, and I’d like to give them props for doing so. Having a staff member update us on CC, fixing the pages within just a few hours and letting people check, etc., I definitely respect them for it.

Regardless, whoever has not gotten in, pleasee realize that college admissions are SO dicey and incredibly random. Essentially, anything that comes down to humans judging other humans is bound to be - what one college believes to be worthy enough for admission, another might hate and instantly throw into the reject pile. Other than that, there’s TONS of other factors influencing admissions at Top 20 colleges - especially the Ivies. So please try not to measure your self-worth according to decisions. Good luck to everyone  And I really hope some of us are lucky enough to meet each other in just a few months if we all end up enrolling at Northwestern!

D accepted to Medill. No problems with email which she opened around 6 pm last night. URL worked fine. She’s so happy!!

@Davev: I didn’t get anything about financial aid either, hopefully they mail it to us in the coming days!

Rejected… This is so terrible. Northwestern was my first choice by far! I was born in Evanston and had a legacy through my dad. I have a 3.92 UW gpa at a very rigorous high school, a 35 act, a 770 math 2 sat 2, 760 chem, really good recs, a super passionate essay and interview, baseball and football, lots of other ecs and lots of volunteering. I cant believe this! I didn’t want to go anywhere else and now I think I’ll have to settle for the U of Minnesota… which is fine i guess. congrats to all that got in though! you should be very proud! i’m jealous  I wish everyone the best in their college decisions!

yesssss accepted yayayay so happy haha i guess i’ll post stats or something later.

General Comments: Now I have to pick between a track scholarship to UVa, running for Dartmouth, or just going to Northwestern.

rule #1 when conducting a college search; Love thy likely!

D is rejected - (I know, big club), but seriously upon further evaluation, she’s not upset, she’s really come to like the schools that have shown her love, some since before Christmas.

We had a couple of BIG hurdles. Getting in ,and affording it, even with their FA. If there’s an 8% chance of getting in? there was probably an equal 8% chance of affording it after that! (8% of 8% = 99.36% chance it would be a “no go”). Matriculation was highly unlikely. Que sera, sera!

For the masses that didn’t get in? find a school you’re happy with - and SAVE YOUR PARENTS about 25k a year! If they’re so h_ll bent on spending that much on you? have them put it in Apple stock, it will be MUCH more useful to you upon graduation from “Any U” ;)

her stat is: sat 1590, act 35, multiple subject test and ap test, gpa 4.0 all a in IB high school, weighted 5.5+. dual enroll for piano performance in college. volunteer hours 400+, research in college, president of key club, vice president of nationa honor society, national merit scholar finalist, shcool soccer team, …

can someone give me some idea why she is waitlisted?

Northwestern rejected me…came as a massive shock considering that i had gotten into UChicago a few hours before finding out the NU decision and into WashU a couple weeks ago.

Why do all parents act like idiots when their kids don’t get in? We understand, they are amazing in every way and will take over the world at another school.

still haven’t gotten an email…

canesfan94 - Same here no email. Tried to email using the address they provided and it got sent back as undeliverable.

Reflection[ul]
[]Strengths:
[]Weaknesses:
[li]Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/ul][/li]General Comments: I think the only reason I was accepted was because when I was filling out my forms for National Merit I put Northwestern as my top choice for next year.

STILL have no received the email!! *** should i do…

Wait because it comes out in waves and if you haven’t received one by Monday, call up admissions!

do you think i can call now?? i don’t want to wait that long!

@labordad: When you say dual enrollment in piano performance I assume you mean double degree program with beinen and one other school? In that case I would interpret waitlisted to mean that her grades were acceptable for the other school, but for Beinen perhaps if the piano teacher could only take 5 applicants, she was 6th on his list, so if one person decides not to go, she would ‘move up’ to take the 5th spot. Just kind of speculating over here based on what I know about Beinen and the double degree program… best of luck!

@appleton1 I’m sure you could try! It definitely wouldn’t hurt, I was just saying because they probably won’t be in the office since it’s the weekend!

Hmmm - 32,000 applications and only about 300 posts on CC since decisions came out (many by multiple posters).

That’s humbling. I assumed CC cut a wider swath than that.
