Official Rice Class of 2013 ED Results

pvtejasvi, I think, as others have said, that you will definitely get into Rice. I know it’s easier said than done but dont sweat it.

nah i think its that SAT score+ Income + Non-URM + TX= disaster

what’s non-urm?

Non-under represented minority. Either they’re Asian (ORM: over represented minority) or Caucasian.

disaster ED yes but they’ll definitely get in RD. I’m sure of it. Besides, Rice doesnt look at income. And his SAT scores arent bad either.

Thanks everyone - will post once final decision is made

Congrats to everyone accepted and Good Luck to everyone who applied or was deferred

Yeah your SATs aren’t bad at all. It’s just that asian americans aren’t exactly URMs in terms of college applicants. Definitely give Rice updates on the research, they love to see people pursuing the things they like, beyond something like science club. After all, Rice is a huge proponent of undergrad research, let them know it’s important to you.

Decision: Deferred

[/ul]Other Factors (weaknesses, strengths, etc.): The summer before senior year I got together with a bunch of friends and we started our own acting troupe. We put on a play that a local playwright had written, and I had a leading role. We ended up making money off of it, and we performed it at a local community theatre. I told the guy who interviewed me, and he was very impressed.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: I’m so bummed about this.

^Apply RD; From the look of things i think Rice purposely pushed all the Texans to RD … :(

Congrats everyone!!! I’m applying RD.
This may be the incorrect thread for this location - forgive me! This year, what seems to be the hardest and easiest Rice schools for acceptance?

I think Rice purposely deffered all TX applicants.
I know I’m pretty up to standards with alot of people,
but being from Houston was definnitely my downfall.

& it would’ve been nice to have a parent as alumni or staff…

it sucks though, i really wanted to get accepted so that i could relax for the rest of the year

i guess another four months will pass by soon enough

wow it’s embarassing that i can’t spell competitive right
probably why i didn’t get in

Hope you used spell check ;). Are you in Houston? I’m in DFW so i hope that helps at least

nope, i live in college station.
that’s where texas a&m is.
you know, the town that got on CNN for an obama-hating rally.

i have to get out of here!

haha good ole CS! Yeah all my friends want to go to CS but im like ***?

our hopes are for you madeline. Hoping you get in

yeah i didn’t even apply to a&m so that i couldn’t have it as an option

tomackze: thanks man, that’s nice of you.

Two other girls from my school and I were accepted, and we live in Houston.

well you guys probably have amazing stats, and you deserved to get in ED

i’m kind of borderline though, AND i’m from cstx
