Official Stanford 2014 Waitlist Discussion

^ My guess would be by this Friday, using 2009 as a reference. And to put “critical reading” into practical use, the Admissions News said “later this month”, not “late this month” :P

So perhaps not much longer.

^You seem to be right on the money!

Today at 7PM CDT

@ibleedcrimson

How do you know that is when we will be finding out?

How do you know it will be today at 7?

@iBleedCrimson: That sure an estimate!?!? You’ve caused quite a stir!!!

Whoa! Source?

AHHH HOW DO YOU KNOW?! i was looking at past threads and apparently some of those who were contact were also put on the extended waitlist. some eventually got in, and others didnt. considering that they are only taking 20-30 students off the waitlist this year in comparison to last year’s ~100… i don’t know if we should be particularly optimistic. i mean, it’s no likely letter. and i’m sure they contact many students. they contacted me through email, but hey, i’m not expecting much. especially since i feel that almost EVERY student is going to reply that they are in LOVE with stanford. wahh :(

i love stanford. and everything about it. i wish they could just tell us the decisions so that i can move forward. cautiously optimistic? i dont even know if i should be that.

**those who were contacted in past years’ waitlists

eaten, are you an international student? Any international students on the waitlist out there got contacted yet?

no, im not an international student :frowning: sorry! but i know that it is not uncommon for students to be contacted… and ive heard of students getting off the waitlist who haven’t been contacted (via cc)

where did this 7 pm rumor begin?! im starting to get these twists and turns in my stomach again. not good :(

No Themust, not me at least! Which country are you from, if I may ask, btw?

@eaten: If you don’t mind posting, what did the email say?

Well the email clearly said that it was not an acceptance, they just wanted to see how interested I was in Stanford. My admissions director said he would let the committee know of my continued interest and that was the end of the conversation.

I think they just want to know if they should ‘waste’ time deciding upon a student who is going to reject their offer in the long-run. Stanford is my first choice, however, I dont want myself to believe that I will get accepted. It’s definitely going to usher in some unwelcomed feelings if I am rejected. But I do understand that they have to create their own class, so I can’t blame them for giving false hopes? GAHH I LOVE STANFORD.

^As far as I know going through previous year’s threads, you’re in!

Oh gosh… reading this thread makes me so  AAAARGHHH

@harvard… Where did you see this? Because the past thread I saw… These students were placed on the extended waitlist(which happens to everyon who isn’t admitted… No one was officially rejected.)

And at meygan- I’m freaking too!! Ahh :(

I wish I got emailed; I left a message telling my admissions officer that I was sorry I missed his call and I was still interested (and emailed him), but he hasn’t responded yet. :(

^ It’s not entirely false hope; being contacted means they definately still have interest in you and that you still have a good chance. If you don’t mind me asking, when did you receive the email?

EDIT: eaten, a few of the waitlistees who were contacted but later put on the extended waitlist were eventually admitted; it’s in [thread=714176]this thread[/thread].

Estimate…after doing some research

And I’m pretty sure they would give a hint if anyone called the office

I’m not sure if any students will be accepted of an extended waitlist if at all. And leidolon… Don’t worry! I’m sire they completely understand that you are a busy student, after all, you did apply to stanford! I’m
sure adcoms have received your response and are just really busy now!

While speculation can calm nerves, it can also cause anxiety! I’m so nervous now! I think they actually might let us know next week? I hope soon! Oh, he emailed me earlier this week as well.

Has anyone called the office?
