USA was second from last because we host the next games. Greece goes first, host country last, and next to last is the next host.
Of course. We were joking.
Rowdy Gaines and Michael Phelps are amazing swim commentators.
Gretchen and Torri… “We are so happy the US went 1:2!” Meaning but not saying out loud that doped China did not get to the top. Great job, superflyers!
We had the good fortune of seeing Bob live! It was hilarious seeing him saunter across the big screen.
Today’s Olympic activities included a trip to Galleries Lafayette for some shopping and lunch on the rooftop, followed by beach volleyball this evening. I know y’all were waiting to hear!
Hey, no shame here from us - we live vicariously through all Cc’ers trips!!!
I want to give a shout out to Flava Flav, who is supporting the women’s water polo team not just by showing up for them, but also monetarily. Awesome!
Have to laugh that CC made your mention of Galleries Lafayette into a hotlink to the Lafayette College chat page–gotta love CC!
Best schedule I’ve found–shows time and network for watching daily
Somehow Olympic badminton seems… Silly
How about skateboarding, breaking, trampoline…? Perhaps we can anticipate new added Olympic events such as arm wrestling, rope tugging and…
Really!! Several of those (and ping pong) seem to not rise to the level envisioned by the Olympic forefathers. but I would like to see billiards added. There are some very skilled players.
I actually enjoyed skateboarding (and surfing) when they were introduced in Tokyo. Those are endeavors which take a lot of skill. It’s gotta suck to be an Olympic surfer this year since they’re competing half a world away.
I’m keeping an open mind on breaking
It’s only a matter of time before pickleball becomes an Olympic sport.
Badminton first premiered in the Olympics in 1992, 32 years ago.
"Badminton is one of the most popular sports in the world, with over 339 million players worldwide. It’s also one of the few racket sports where men and women of all ages and abilities can compete equally. "
I’d say they have their audience.
If there are players and an audience, I say it counts. Just like in high school, not every sport will get the accolades of the football or basketball team.
I just watched men’s street skateboard this morning. The skaters are definitely athletes. What they do is really, really difficult (and cool). It probably helps that my S is a skateboarder (not competitive).
My husband has become an avid womens rugby fan. It’s fun to watch him watch.
We were at our cabin all weekend, sigh. I’ve taped everything. I’m in the middle of watching the opening ceremonies now. I do like them a lot, mainly because Paris is showcased so beautifully.
I’m irritated that ultimate frisbee hasn’t made it yet.
Have you watched competitive ping pong? It’s like tennis on steroids. Very fun to watch.
