I had no idea there was Men’s field hockey. No shade at all, just don’t know any schools in our area that has Men’s field hockey!
It is not at all uncommon in the UK and Commonwealth countries.
Watching prime time coverage and comparing to the morning coverage. Definitely way more celebrity spotting and way less actual gymnastics action shown!

I’m a brand new Ilona fan! I loved the classy way that she handled the person commenting on her physical size. Just started following her socials - she’s hilarious! I had never watched a rugby game prior to these Olympics.

I saw her Tiktoks when she was in Tokyo last time around. The behind the scenes stuff in the village was cool. She is bringing eyeballs to her sport. That can be hard to do for sure. She is a great ambassador for her sport.

In addition to wishing the medal ceremonies were shown (one of my favorite parts of the Olympics), I also wish they did more in-depth pieces on individual athletes (like the old “up close and personal”).

I don’t watch gymnastics other than during the Olympics. Thoughts while watching yesterday…
- Their body types have really changed over the years. They used to look like small children who hadn’t gone through puberty yet. I realize that the US team is older than any other team, but even the Italian and the Brazilian teams had curvy, muscular women. That’s nice to see.
- When did the dramatic eye make up start? I’m thinking of Jordan Chiles and the Brazilian women. Didn’t gymnastics used to be relatively prim and proper where you were supposed to have a uniform look?
- Tattoos - I didn’t realize Jordan Chiles had so many tattoos. I saw spine tattoos similar to Jordan’s on some of the women from other countries as well. Is that new in 2024?
- Nails - I can barely type with acrylics. How does Jordan do everything with those nails?

Not new. I noticed in Tokyo, but it seems to have become even more prevalent. I also noticed it as I was watching diving - well beyond the Olympics rings tattoos that many had.

I noticed the tattoos as well. I’m glad that it’s not an issue, but I remember how ice skaters in the past has had to be a certain size and certain look and wondered whether that would fly in that sport.
