Trampoline… just wow. What a crazy, dangerous, and beautiful sport. But geez… so many crying athletes!
I despise Djokovic. I disliked him before the pandemic, but after finding out he met with fans unmasked one day after testing positive for covid, I moved to a new level of disgust. I sometimes read that he has a chip on his shoulder as being the least liked member of the Big Four. He is jealous of the popularity of the other three. I SO hope that Carlos wins the gold!
On the other hand, I have spent the last month crying over Murray’s last appearance at Wimbledon and his Olympic retirement. I spent 45 minutes watching him practice on his off day at the Open 2 years ago. He was so respectful of the youngster who had been pulled in to hit with him and of the fans as he left the court. His classic response about female tennis players a few years back has shown up in almost every retirement tribute. He deserves every bit of love he has been shown, IMO.
Definitely not like the trampolining I did as a kid.
And their apparatus does not look like a typical backyard trampoline - at all! ![]()
I’m not surprised. I’ve not been a fan forever! I just didn’t know what transpired today. I’ll be rooting for ALCAREZ
!
Did not know trampolining was an olympic sport! What happened to baseball and softball?? My DH wants olympic corn hole!
Baseball and softball were purged effective the London Olympics, replaced by rugby sevens. They returned as a one-off in Tokyo due to popularity in Japan and will likely have another one-off appearance in Los Angeles for the same reason.
Ever since Sydney.
When they add pickleball, I’m out. ![]()
They showed earlier some sports that were coming back, and apparently baseball and softball were on the list.
wait what…there is trampoline? Seriously the Olympics are going to go on for a month if they keep adding things lol. Trust me, pickleball is coming. Was happy to see Lax coming in 2028, it’s very popular around here. I’ll wait for beer pong. lol
I kidded about pickleball upthread but apparently it is not yet global enough. And trampoline is?!
To become an Olympic sport, a sport has to be governed by an International Federation and implement the World Anti-Doping Code. It also needs to be played widely in 75 countries and on four continents to be added to the male sports slate. It has to be widely played in 40 countries and on three continents to make the female sports slate.
That 10,000 meter race was incredible. Such a tough race but so happy for Grant Fisher. Adding Kara for commentary on the distance races is a real plus too. And thanks everyone for not spoiling the race by posting the result!
Did anyone see the pole vault this morning? The guy from Estonia and his reaction afterwards…. Priceless….!
Just watched the men’s floor and the athlete from the Philippines won the gold and the Israeli the silver. Cool!
Could you please stop doing this? Nearly every post you are announcing a winner. Why?
The thread title clearly indicates that there will be spoilers. Users are reading at their own risk
Got it. Later, guys!
Please read the thread title. It says LIVE SPOILERS! We are posting to celebrate! (Ah- ski beat me to it). This thread is more like a virtual watch party, IMO, and a bit puzzled by your comment as only 3 of my 11 posts (in a 350+ posts thread) mentioned anything about results.
Ahhh they do two vaults in the individual finals
Difference in leotards for the Korean gymnast and Biles - you could bling a whole country of gymnasts with what the USA has on theirs lol
Wow only 6 compete on each. Thought it would be more
