All about vball this morning. This match is amazing.
I heard on NPR yesterday that they were having a medal ceremony in Paris for the figure skating teams whose medals were adjusted after Chinese disqualification at last winter games. Nice that they could do something special for them after the 2 year wait. US moved up to gold, think it was Japan to silver and Russia to bronze. However, Russia not allowed to participate because of war.

If you have a chance to watch the synchro routine of the US team, do it! Absolutely amazing. So beautiful. To be able to lift your teammates so high up in the air while not touching the bottom of the pool takes a lot of athleticism.

I can’t help but notice how all of the US athletes have such nice white straight teeth and great smile.
It was Russians who were demoted from gold to bronze based on the positive test of the Russian skater Kamila Valieva. This happened at the Olympics in China – but the Chinese athletes were not disqualified (this time).
Long delayed but lovely that the US skaters got their moment.

In the 2004 Olympocs, the equestrian show jumping medals were redistributed after the drug test results came back. Long after the medal ceremony.
That’s different from a scoring error, but in the end, one hopes that the places are consistent with the rules of the sport. I understanding the disappointment of the Romanians but personally wish they’d use this platform to advocate for better processes to confi/check scoring.
On a happier note, the artistic swimming was a blast to watch.
As was the speed climbing – I love seeing the athletes who train and compete in obscurity until the Olympics roll around. They seem like very cohesive and supportive communities, and it’s exciting to see them and their time in the spotlight.

I noticed he had a mask on before the trials. I assumed he was just being careful. What a shame.

That’s what everyone assumed. NBC just reported that he was taken away by the medical team after the race. Covid sucks so much.

He just said that he be able to run in the 4x100 relay, but that would be up to the coaches to decide if he will be in the mix.
Way to go, Sydney! US 1 and 2!!!

Sydney was amazing in the hurdles. So glad for Anna Cockrell getting the silver! And the American women took gold and silver in the long jump.

Very happy for Anna Cockerel. Sydney is in the league of her own. Femke Bol did not look good in this race. Nothing like her stunning performance in the relay.

Jokic is the MVP of the NBA for a reason and has pulled out a lot of games on his own. He just couldn’t find a few Serbian all stars to help him.

I came down with Covid on Tuesday. I know I feel crappy today so I can’t imagine how he was able to run the 200m and still wind up with a bronze medal. The guy is superhuman!
