Feel better!!
Steph Curry said it was the most fun he had had on the court in a long time.
Sarah won gold after a crazy morning initially being told she would not have to wrestle. Spencer Lee going for gold tonight. Aaron Brooks and Helen Maroulis going for bronze tonight. The US women are having a great Olympics. Darian Cruz, an American wrestling for Puerto Rico and Myles Amine, an American wrestling for San Marino, are also going for bronze tonight.
Yay! Our hometown hurdler made it to the 100 m finals!!
An interesting tidbit about synchro:
Rainy day, but US 4x100 women’s team delivers gold! Sha’Carri looked on fire! The exchanges weren’t as smooth as they were supposed to be, but a gold is a gold!! Congrats, athletes!
I got up early (for me) and watched the all-around individual competition for Rhythmic Gymnastics. I’ve watched the sport for a long time, but haven’t kept up in recent years. I was impressed with the young women who performed today. All were extremely accomplished. Germany took the gold (although the gymnast representing Germany was born in Russia and left to train in German), Bulgaria took silver, and Italy won bronze. The Ukrainian gymnast didn’t win a medal, but she was terrific and she’s only 16!! Unfortunately, the US gymnast (Evita Griskenas) didn’t make finals. Rhythmic group finals start tomorrow (US group didn’t qualify). Rhythmic is the only all-female sport that remains in the summer Olympic games.
It’s like our 4x100 men’s teams have the yips
The exchanges were absolutely terrible!
The German gymnast was great! I was wondering where she was originally from, because her name was definitely not a typical German name.
It seems like we have a very stupid system for choosing the relay team so that no one has ever adequately practiced passing the baton. Other countries practice with a bunch of guys before the games start.
Want a shame. A bunch of stars doesn’t automatically make a good team…
Germany takes the gold in women’s shot put on 5th attempt! The athlete doesn’t look like a typical shot putter. Doesn’t look like she has that big body mass that is supposed to propel the thrown object.
If y’all haven’t seen it, Google Australian break dancer. Bless her heart.
Rai Benjamin defeats Karsten Warholm.
Maybe she’s really tall and muscular, so that she gets more rotational speed on the shot than the bulkier shot putters.
Hard to say how tall she was compared to the others because they never showed these athletes as a group. But she was definitely very fast in her spin!
You mean b-girl? That’s apparently the official term.
Marathon swimming… that water looks absolutely disgusting !!!
Oh, women’s water polo… Such a crushing end of game…
